Have you ever visited a cave? There is something about caves, maybe they activate some caveman layers in our brain, like some long forgotten memory of ancestors.
Post your cave dis and adventures

I visited 2 caves on the trip to Slovakia r8
was going to visit 3 but I was late for visiting the 2nd one due to my lunch & then drive there taking longer than I reckoned and I had to wait for the next one in an hour which meant in turn I was always going to be late for the last visit to the 3rd one

Here, some photos I took on Saturday when I climbed V.Draški vrh (2243m)
First some pics from the valley. I drove car up to parkings at Uskovnica (na Lomu, 1061m) where I started at about 8:30. At Uskovnica it was opening party for the new alpine club hut (the old one was demolished to be completely renovated)
From there I took the path on the left, across Čiprje (a steep slope that's constantly sliding down, the old path was destroyed ~2018, the new path apparently wasn't completely open yet – but I managed to get across the short part that wasn't ready yet)
V.Draški Vrh is the pyramid shaped peak in the middle on 1st pic, on the right in 4th pic. The wide one next to it is Tosc, the smaller pyramid is Ablanca.
SloveniaBernd2022-06-22 20:20:44 · 4yNo. 177928reply
When you cross Čiprje, you have to climb the slope of Tosc to the main path leading to Triglav. There were some marmot holes at the side of the path, haven't seen any marmots though. Also flowers. I believe those are Trollius europaeus and some kind of forget-me-nots
SloveniaBernd2022-06-22 20:26:39 · 4yNo. 177935reply
The pass in 2nd pic is between V.Draški and Ablanca, the path leading to Triglav from Pokljuka goes over there. I had to get to the pass, and then go straight up along the ridge to the summit. Unmarked, but can't miss it, since it's the ridge. There's no real climbing sections but there's a bit of exposed rock before you get there.
From the top of V.Draški and Tosc it's great views towards Triglav, the highest mountain in Slovenia, and down the Krma valley.
Usually V.Draški doesn't have many people climbing it, but this time there were already 2 girls there, so I spilled my spaghetti.

I took the other way of descent, to the east, down into the valley of Konjščica pasture (named after horses, but today they have cows there – not yet up there this year though – and local cowherd will sell milk products for hikers all summer. But since no cows yet I just had some homemade pear brandy.)
Then back to Uskovnica, check out the cows, see how the party is proceeding, eat some stew, check out the new club hut (it's still nice but maybe a bit too touristy for my taste – but hey it's practically down in the valley, so it's k), and drive back down to the valley.

Bothersome when there's too many people around, but nice that you can still find a spot.

We have a similar mountain lake that is close to some transit route and due to the internet leaking its secret location it is now heavily overrun by hectic Germans that make a stop on their way to their destination.
Before that it was only ever visited by some locals and you could enjoy a quiet and calm stay.

Blindsee
Note the location next to a heavily trafficked road, yet tourist traveling there never knew about the lake as you can hardly see it from the road.
Then came the internets and Facebook...

I have some corn.
Is the second time this year I planted corn, because squirrels eat the first plants, im still kind of sad because the first plants were red corn, kind of rare and cool, well I kept 4 plants of red corn.
The new ones are blue corn, and the squirrels are resting in peace.

Generally transparent ice that is slipper and dangerous to pedestrians and especially cars if you can't see it. Hence why it's black ice.

Freedom camping is so easy in nz, i almost feel a tinge of guilt whenever i get away with it and shitting nearby.

And before bedtime, i slipped a few discarded pizza buns out of a dumpster to feed some thirty odd seagulls. One nearly choked with the amount i tossed. Was a laff
