I see.

Imo pub quizzes involves knpwing a lot of random things, and while knowledge in general is good, knowing a lot random facts isn't necessarily a big advantage in life.

I assembled the team, so I guess I played an important part.

Pub quizzes are fun because you get to know your team members, everyone knows different things and together they make up one picture.

I want to be able to outrange a knife, so maybe I will try to build a tazergun or maybe a foldable spear.

i remember carrying paper knife with me at school to scary the bullies, but eventually the teacher freaked out and asked me to give all my paper knives away (i use the paper knives to sharpen the pencils, since i don't really like pencil sharpeners), and we had a discussion about bullying later

> Etymology: Com. Teut. and Indogermanic: OE. siwan, siowan (usually, with change of conjugation, siwian, siowian, seowian) = OFris. sîa (mod.Fris. dial. siije), OHG. siuwen, ONor. sýja (Sw. sy, Da. sye), Goth. siujan :— OTeut. *siwjan, cogn. w. the synonymous L. su-ĕre, Gr. (κασ-)σύειν, Lett. schuju, OSl. šiti (Russ. shitp., shivatp.), Skr. siv (3 sing. pres. sīvyati, pa. pple. syūtá; derivatives are syū fem., needle or thread, syūman suture).
> The root (for which Hirt suggests a primary form *seyewa-) appears in the words above quoted as *syū- : *sīw. Another ablaut-grade, *syou-, is found in OTeut. *saumo- seam sb. The pronunciation [səʊ] is abnormal (cf. strow, var. of strew, repr. OE. streowian); the written forms show that it goes back at least to the 14th c. In the 17th c. sew sometimes rhymes with clue, new; the mod.Sc. pronunciation is [ʃu].

i did a sin. i made my coffee in the microwave

the problem is my gas stove ran out of gas, mom is in another city and she usually manages all the shit about rent and payment for repair, i have enough money left to pay for the gas stove repair, but i will be left without the money for food, the question is: should i continue to sin, boil the water in microwave and save the money for food, or should i pay for gas stove repair and run out of money for food?

i screwed up from the job again, since im working with mom at the same workplace and she decided to go away and take me with her, so im unemployed again =/

in theory i can take commissions, but who will buy lol

I'm too much of an electricity noob to dare.
GermanyBernd2024-09-17 21:03:37 · 2yNo. 320134reply
The water acts like an electrical resistance between the razor blades. This closes the circuit and the water heats up.
If you put the blades closer together or if the water is salty the resistance is lower which means the the current increases. So it might be safer to start your experiments with the razor blades farther apart.
If you put the water in a glass or a ceramic cup and don't touch the water or the razor blades or the non insulated parts of the wire while it is connected you should be fairly safe. The worst that could happen is that your fuse blows and you have to turn it on against.
ChinaBernd2024-09-22 13:12:56 · 2yNo. 320597reply
wont water electrolyze and turn into hydrogen & oxygen(both active and therefore dangerous)
before it could heat itself obviously?
and how do u ensure its efficiency and make it heat faster than it cools down?
for the safety part how do u put the whole thing together if ur an electricity noob? the voltage provided by the socket shall definitely kill u.

just a few wonders, don’t take em seriously :D
GermanyBernd2024-09-22 15:04:46 · 2yNo. 320600reply
Electrolysis is done with DC and not with AC. It requires Ions to move from one side to the other. I doubt that this works very well when the polarity changes 60 times per second.

>and how do u ensure its efficiency and make it heat faster than it cools down?
Power = U*I
Ohm's law U = I*R
Power = U^2/R
U is fixed. The power that goes into the water goes inverse to the resistance. You can control the resistance by the distance between both razor blades. The closer they are together the faster the water heats up until eventually the current will go so high that your breaker pops.

It was possible to buy these kinds of heaters very cheap. I quickly searched here on ebay and aliexpress but can't find them anymore.
