SwitzerlandIsraeli missile interceptor reportedly falls in Gaza Strip and iBernd2019-11-15 21:38:41 · 7yNo. 88468reply
A crucial part of Israel’s Tamir interceptor, which is used in the middle-range Iron Dome air defense system, seems to have fallen intact in the Gaza Strip, potentially creating a major leak of secret rocket technology.

Like many other interceptors, the Tamir missile destroys enemy projectiles by approaching them mid-course and detonating its warhead. The tricky part is correctly identifying the right time for the detonation.

The timing must be perfect, considering the astounding speeds at which both the targeted projectile and the interceptor travel. So, it’s no surprise that the components responsible for it, the active radar seeker and the fuse section, are highly classified (and sought-after by anyone wishing to reverse engineer the Israeli technology). Usually an interceptor that fails to hit its target self-destructs to protect its secrets.

But one Tamir missile seems to have been recovered by someone in the Gaza Strip with this highly-sensitive part still intact, defense news website The Drive reports. The evidence of the possible technology loss was published on Twitter by Joe Truzman, an Israeli defense expert and author of the GroundBrief newsletter.

What was the last time you have dreamt and did you know it was a dream while being insides?
Can you remember the dream?
And most importantly, do you have a surefire way to induce dreams yourself?

Today I got reminded that I do have a method to beam myself into the dream world.

1.Sleep around 5-6 hours (normal sleep duration minus 2-3 hours)

2.Wake up forcefully and suddenly, stay half awake for about half an hour.

3.Go back to bed and fall asleep again, which should be relatively easy.

4.Welcome to the dream

Somehow this puts my brain into the REM state, while sleeping usually won't, because I don't dream or at least I cannot remember them.
But still I have never fully achieved lucid dreaming. While I know being inside a dream and can wake up at will, I cannot otherwise influence the world.
RussiaBernd2019-11-17 13:18:43 · 7yNo. 88693reply
i rarely see dreams naturally but im aware that if you fall asleep after naturally waking up you will most likely have lucid dreams. too bad i can't fall asleep unless i'm really tired.

One month ago I had a dream that I was in some strange destroyed ruins of a bleak, grey colored land with a dark lord type figure and his army of minions off in the distance with a wave of fire on the horizon, and there was some small island where some wild ampfers were growing, and i climbed past dead possums up into some unexplored ruined building that ended up being really nice and ceremonial on the inside, and I found something called the Pen of Paracelsus in a box, which was like some holy item or something, and then I continued walking through the building and i ended up in my grandma's house that i lived in for three years before last year, and i then became lucid when i realized that made no sense, and i walked out the back door onto the porch and the garage door opened and i went to go see who opened it but no one was there, and then i woke up.

I found it very weird that I referred to the curly dock plants in the dream by their german name of "ampfer" when prior to having the dream I didn't know who paracelsus was and that he happened to have been a swiss german.

I just realised something... something spooky as fuck.

You know how sumo is derived from some ancient rituals? How it was performed in shrines, to appease the kami, to ensure prosperity? It was only later professionalised, and is now performed on a national level by salaried wrestlers, but there are still many religious elements, from how the ring is consecrated by a priest before each tournament, yokozuna entering the ring with that big white rope around his belt, to wrestlers actually throwing salt into the ring before each bout as a means of consecration. It is a deeply religious ritual, somehow performed to appease the kami for the entire nation of Japan. Kinda like how the ancient Olympic Games were performed on temple grounds, and were a form of vitalist worship of Greek gods.

You know when's the last time sumo wasn't performed as scheduled? March 2011. The March of the earthquake and tsunami that rekt Japan. But guess what? The tournament was cancelled a month before. Because of some match-fixing scandal. Yep, that's right. And the earthquake happened 2 days before the tournament was scheduled.

The earthquake happened because the sumo ritual wasn't performed. Because the kami weren't appeased. They were pissed and caused the earthquake as a warning.

No, sumo is native Japanese. There's figurines of sumo wrestlers from as early as Kofun period, which was when Japan just established contacts with China. Mythic origin of sumo is from the fight between Takeminakata and Takemikazuchi, where Takemikazuchi (who is also dutied with keeping Namazu, the giant catfish that causes earthquakes (!) under control), fight for control over Japan (Takemikazuchi representing celestial, and Takeminakata the chthonic kami). Empress Kogyoku entertained Baekje Korean envoys by showing them sumo in 7th century. This was right around when Chinese culture starts dominating Japan, so it's clearly older than that.
SloveniaBernd2019-11-17 21:39:09 · 7yNo. 88787reply
You mean this? It's some kind of a call. You bang those sticks together then call for attention. It's specifically done in religious ceremonies (again) so in relation to sumo it means calling the kami to watch the bout.
The gyoji (referee) also sings the wrestlers' names in a similar voice when announcing them.

When you're reading the last article, think about this for a moment: do you have any idea how much work went into getting all the custom letters to display as intended? Without designing a custom font, publishing this article would've been impossible.
