Industrial lightning strike counters are part of power surge protection installations, they monitor current spikes in the system. There are consumer weather stations that detect it as well but I don't know how exactly, probably by insane radio noise on all frequencies that lightning strikes produce.

Interesting, one lightning bolt hit something near my house, so i checked the map. The Industrial lightning strike counters wont show me, if a tree was hit.

I always thought for Radiolocation you need at least three receiver in the area.

How hard is it to grow outdoors? I'll live near a forest soon and think about doing it. There won't be any sunlight though, too many trees.

just find a spot with few trees and climb on the trees around it and cut off some of the biggest light takers, it worked well for me

Why yes, I used those as a child but always preferred pencils.

There are some but no one take them serious, the only thing I know about them is that they dont drink coffee nor play with fireworks, but maybe the fireworks thing is because most of them are american missionaries

This thread reminds me I worked with someone who was formerly a member of some strange sect of fundamentalist Mormonism and then converted to Baha'i. One of the strangest and most intelligent people I've ever met. He had an engineering degree yet preferred to work on a loading dock and read physics books. He also taught himself to read ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, and had advanced knowledge of Mayan history.

 

Before he retired he told me he was working on a religious book detailing the links between Baha'i and Mormonism and how they could and should be merged into one religion.

Sounds like the kind of shit I was up to when 12-15, glad I grew out of it tbh

Dumpster dived two garlic sausage rolls. They were a tad dry. 5/10

One potato top pie. Never found this one before but it was a 6/10.
