Have you tried using youtube without an ad-blocker? They force an ad on you like every 10 minutes. Completely unusable. It's worse than conventional tv. This makes me lose all sympathy to them.

Adblockers still work. On mobile too there are browsers that support extensions. For youtube music get ViMusic from F-Droid. I'm sure there are desktop alternatives too.

There are always better alternatives than giving money to them. The final solution is to stop watching. You won't be missing out on anything important. Tricking your brain that it's watching something important, or that the next one might really be the one, is how it works and only suckers believe them lies. Go a few weeks without and see how much your subscriptions really mattered to your life.

It must be real damn expensive to maintain monopoly position while also suppressing anything worth watching. If this is what you want feel free to pay for your abuse.

Currently I'm using firefox for youtube which still blocks reliably. I think I'll switch back to firefox completely now. Hopefully they won't target firefox next.
