It was a large volume rocket strike, then raids on foot (on gliders, via tunnels, boats, bikes...), with the intent of kidnap some people, and murder some more. They probably had target lists of key people in the neighbouring areas, and hit them.

Besides these minor targets (among them military ones) and some killings that seem random, the whole thing looks more like a provocation. How Alex of Historylegends put it: it's like on a football game when the player behind you continuously pushing you, nudging, poking, provoking you to make you feel "enough" and strike back committing a foul.

Somewhat but not really. Hamas and Hezbollah are ethnically and religiously motivated movements and parties, committed to armed fighting. They accept training, equipment and money basically form anyone who is willing to support them. Iran is such ofc. They also gain experience in participating in conflicts elsewhere, like Syria. Without fighting you won't know how to fight.

Btw in all the videos I've ever seen when they fire with assault rifles they all shoot high. They point higher than the horizon to begin with, and then the recoil pushes the barrel higher and higher. Sure some cases they might target targets on elevation, but not all the time.
