I want to read into communism as I have a big knowledge gap regarding it.

I'm not solely interested in the philosophical arguments in favor of Communism that make it a charming utopia but a comparison of actual communist societies past and present, where they failed, where they succeeded, how the standard of living changed and how the governments were overthrown. It's important that this comparison must be done from an unbiased point of view.

Can you recommend a good book?

a lot of communist societies used Communist theory just as a justification for simple authoritarian rule of the group of party elites
Like the bunch of people even today can gather up and create a cummunist party. Lets just imagine - its 5 guys named Pedro, Jose, Madean, Seger, Tuarum. They are buddies from the past and they decide that they want to become rich. They buy cheap communist flags on Alibaba and declare that they are communists and that society is unjust. They will recruit more people into their party using this communist idea of utopia just like a lure, like a fairy tale of what is possible and promise it to people, but they themselves understand that they themselves never going to build any communism, this party of 5 guys just want to live a rich life of rulling a country and use ideology of communism as justification of their rule.

And i am not saying that its somehow super bad. A lot of ruling elites of countries in the past had even worse justifications. Imagine being born into a country and some group 5 guys rule you because their parents fucked each other for generations and they supposedly have some royal blood. What is worse - bunch of reds lying to you about building a better future, or a bunch of inbred fuckers who think they own you because of some heredetiary fairy tales?

did it succeed anywhere?
RussiaBernd2022-06-30 18:24:08 · 4yNo. 189031reply
depends on how you define success
if success is building communism, where everything is free and eveyrone equal - then no, but in some countries communist movements succeded in overthrowing the entrenched political elites which like parasites where milking the working class without any respect for their right.

Of course in the process the capitalist elites were replaced with Nomenklatura elite of the party, rulling the country as a separate class of people, while pretending that they destroy the any class distinctions and make everyone equal.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nomenklatura

But party Nomenklatura elite itself becomes entranched in power and distances itself from people, while lying that disempowered people are in fact rulling the country somehow. Like how the fact is the communist country ruled by workers if workers can't even protest, while party Nomenklatura elites can establish the norm of the work day for a worker? And Nomenklatura can raise salary for itself and reduce the work day for itself. But workers can't. Nomenklatura becomes new parasite class of elites that abuse the worker, while lying that they represent the workers and one blood with it.

in my country there is not much football tradition, but every so often I like to watch the champions league or the world cup and for me the best player is Thomas Müller, since I saw that he vaccinated Argentina in the 2010 world cup, whenever I watch football again I see that the guy is still relevant and at a good level.
To me as an occasional spectator and without being especially fanatic, I consider Müller to be my favorite player in history along with Ronaldinho.

I think one of the main traits that Mexican criminals have is the fact that they are disposable, their lives aren't worth that much and they build their entire organizations and cartels around that idea. I personally would like to think that this is due to the fact that they have more opportunities for making money by being so close to a first world country, basically, anything goes, and they get away with simpler strategies to smuggle drugs into the US simply due to the fact that they have numbers and for every Mexican caught there are 3 that go through the border easily. But here we are, differentiating between Mexican cartels and Latin American cartels when in the eyes of anyone that isn't Latin American we are all the same. Also, if we're talking about violence in itself then we should at least mention the fact that Central American countries and their cartels are also incredibly violent and operate more or less in the same way a Mexican cartel would. MS13 is one of the gangs that are present even in the US and have many members, supposedly very violent individuals as well. I think I understand the comparison you made to Scarface, as I said earlier, Mexican criminals are disposable and their lives under the eye of the cartel aren't worth very much, but I think this phenomena applies to all Latin American cartels as a whole. In the eyes of someone who isn't Latin American, all cartels are the same as Mexican ones, so I don't understand why we should be alienating Mexican cartels to others that exist in Latin America, when they're all associated with eachother for foreigners.

>If you think about it, if countries south of the border, countries that produce the drugs that are smuggled into the US through Mexico, didn't exist, then Mexico wouldn't have had the bad reputation it currently has with drug smuggling

>You don't do a thing about it because people do themselves by using their voting rights, that's why this governance is called 'democracy'. It's not perfect but clearly better than when signle source of power silences everyone who disagree with its course and punishes whoever it sees fit declaring them guilty and responsible - all by itself.

Yeah, let's add a case in point - two wars in Afghanistan: the Soviet and the American one.

Soviet war in Afghanistan:

- 10 years;
- tens of thousands dead;
- ended in defeat;
- didn't help either country;

American war in Afghanistan:

- 20 years;
- tens of thousands dead;
- ended in defeat;
- didn't help either country;

But. In America they have the Basic Democracy, that's why the entirety of the Soviet war happened under the rule of CPSU - because it was a totalitarian single party state. While in America the war has started under the Republican rule with J. Bush as the president, continued with the Democratic government of B. Obama, went through Republican government of D. Trump and only the last Democratic government of J. Biden has finally put an end to it.There were talks about ending it since Obama's era, but it took two following changes of government to actually do it. And let's not forget the entire International Security Assistance Force, consisting of free and democratic nations, all the populations of which have voted to go kill some Afghanis out of their own volition.

That's how important the Basic Democracy is, children!

In USA who has the final word on whether something is corruption or "some funny sophisiticated word but not corruption"? The media. So if a media decides that there is no corruption, then there is no corruption. Media in USA loves this country and would go to incredible lenghts to not admit corruption and use euphemism and sophisticated words, just to present their country as free of corruption.

Case in point, NASA contract to build the space suits that was estimated cost US government over 420 millions over 14 years and those space suits were still not ready in time for Lunar landing in 2024 and would cost as 1 billion each! But thats just begining of the story
https://qz.com/2046840/a-1-billion-space-suit-is-holding-up-nasas-2024-moon-landing/

After NASA spent 420 millions dollars on the development of these suits which were not ready and over payed, NASA then SCRAPPED the whole project and outsourced new space suits production to private companies. So what exactly was the value of those 420 million dollars that NASA spent on space suits? No one knows if that money gone to actually developing suits or to pay for expensice college education for NASA executives, but it doesn't matter now no one will investigate it, no one will use anything if was actually developed using that money. Now its two private companies will recieve...3.5 billion dollars to develop and deliver space suits.
https://time.com/6183954/nasas-new-moonwalking-suits/

Like from 2008 to 2022 NASA wasted on something 420 million dollars and no one will see any results of this spending because nothing was ready or developed, no one will know if they were just stolen, but now 2 private companies will be developing space suits. And government of USA hopes that these 2 companies can make space suits ready in 2 to 4 years where NASA couldn't do anything in 14 years.
Americans don't even investigate since regular American is just the cattle, he can't go and dig deep and actually learn how the money was spent. The idea that America has investigative journalism uncovering corruption is a lie. American investigative journalism serves the state and one or two parties, and they are more intrested in this between party diggery instead of trying to discredit the system they want to present as perfect.
