It's a she, I had a crush on her last year, so giving her birthday wishes on WhatsApp was part of me trying to get more intimate with her. We are working continuously together and I'm closer to her than to other colleagues. But since then I gave up on it and wanted to keep more distance, so I wasn't sure whether I should do it this year.

UruguayLord Trump rearms Ukraine:Bernd2025-07-15 05:35:02 · 12mnNo. 344817reply
In an unexpected twist, Lord Trump rearms Ukraine with high technology. Ukraine has strongly resisted the Russian advance (this war began in February 2022, and to this day, Russia has not managed to occupy most of Ukraine's territory. This is radically different from what happened, for example, with the war in Iraq or even what is happening in Iran).

Is this a strategy to twist Russia's arm at the negotiating table?

UruguayIt's very difficult, very difficult...Bernd2025-07-16 02:09:02 · 11mnNo. 344884reply
I don't think their strategy is to give Ukraine victory, but rather to exhaust Russia so that it withdraws in the worst possible negotiation scenario.

I think the bottom line is:

>Russia has failed to dominate Ukraine (this year has already gone four years - 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025).
>Russia is indirectly submitting to China because of the war (China is taking advantage of the situation to buy gas at low prices. Gas is a strategic resource).
>The Russian state is wearing itself out economically and militarily by directing its resources toward a protracted war.

I think the strategy is to create an Afghanistan 2.0

I'd like to disagree, not because I don't find merit in what you're saying, but because I think Russia is no longer on the same level as the US and China, but rather on the same level as the European powers.

Personally, I think this is just an accident. The real thing will begin when China can no longer maintain the formality of diplomacy and the debt strategy.

>So what will be the result of a Ukrainian rearmament?
In my opinion, what it will do is accelerate Russia's defeat by forcing it into negotiations. It won't be a military defeat, but a political one. And that's what the Trump administration wants (which is why I'm talking about Afghanistan 2.0).
HungaryBernd2025-07-16 21:04:26 · 11mnNo. 344921reply
Btw. There is a whole board dedicated to war discussion on this site, but okay.

>Trump rearms Ukraine
Not really. Probably the only time I agree with Kaja Kallas: the one who pays the bill does the thing, Europe buys arms from USA, and Europe pass it on to Ukraine. It's Europe who arms Ukraine.
Frankly not even rearms, it's just the continuation what's going on. EU's budget goes in cycles of 7 years or so, next starts in 2028. They are already discussing it for a while and one point is the war in Ukraine, they are counting on financing it... after 2028 still! It never was a question that peace will be made.
Anyway, Trump's plan is to sell arms to Europe. They forced them to raise their military budget to 2%, and just at the latest NATO summit, they raised that to 5%. That's a lot of money - what will they spend it on? Trump says: on American weapons. And they will.

They should have mobilize ~500K at early 2023.

>I don't think their strategy is to give Ukraine victory
I concur. Yes they think they are attriting Russia.
But what happens is that Ukraine attrited too, and in faster rate than Russia.
The point of the slow Russian advancement: they don't just grind soldiers, but the whole country. If a country fell quick, the population is willing to resist and a long asymmetric war follows - example like Afghanistan (both for Soviet Union and United States). But if a country is beaten to pulp, slowly, methodically, then they lose morale and will to fight, and can be forced to agree on anything, and won't be a problem when it comes under occupation. Breaking the people, breaking the country.

The arms they send quick: the Patriots, are fine but not much.
Tomahawks are nice but who will use them? And when those can actually enter the war?

UruguayBernd2025-07-15 01:19:39 · 12mnNo. 344804reply
It's worth considering how much a device like that consumes. If it consumed the same amount of power as having the device play for 6 or 8 hours, it wouldn't be such a problem (that's what happened before, and it wasn't that expensive, between 400W and 800W). It's assumed that it wouldn't be used continuously.
I looked at prices, and bringing one to my country costs $1,400 (36% of that is taxes).
A graphics card like an RTX 4080 costs roughly the same. But even if I bought a card like that, I'd have to modify the rest of my PC (and I'd still lose VRAM).

I think the idea would be to run a 70b model. On my current one, I tried a 7b Deepseek, and besides having the speed issue, it was pretty amazing.

Okay. Let's start from the premise that the phenomenon of globalization cannot be avoided. But globalism (-ism) as an ideology promotes that all exports and imports (necessary or not) are good because the free market is good for material development in general (the economic specialization thesis). The question I ask myself is: Does Orbán differentiate between necessary and unnecessary exports/imports? (Using unnecessary as any import and foreign capitalization that can be reproduced locally. For example, if a plantation or some type of commodity can be produced in Hungary, then its import is not necessary, nor is foreign capitalization because whatever it is, it can be produced by a local organization—public or private enterprise).

That is what defines whether Orbán is a globalist or not in post-liberal terms. Because that's what progressives and liberals do, and they are criticized for it (both of whom accept globalism in its ideological sense, that is, they don't recognize globalization as an economic phenomenon, but rather actively promote it for deliberate economic development).
In the case of accelerationists, it's a little harder to define because there's a conflict between commodities and technological development. On the one hand, they admit the need for the exploitation of raw materials at a global level, but they seek technical development in terms of techno-nationalism (digital sovereignty = national sovereignty).

>There's a small section of it for the local oligarchs to fight over it.
Okay. That's inevitable; businessmen and politicians capitalize on it. In Uruguay, the former president's family owns properties in the eucalyptus plantation, which is where the pulp for the Finnish company UPM is extracted. UPM opened two factories in Uruguay, the first with the approval of leftist governments and the second under the former president. There are similar examples all over the world, and it's part of the favoritism we've been discussing.

Google has a service with a database with over 9000 hashes of csam, and they offer it to filter out this crap.
However I'm not sure if it's a good idea to connect Google right onto the posts of users of imageboards... Yeah I know they can crawl chans and they do, still that feels a bit different.

>It was discussed on kiwifarms FYI and it's trained to detect if
>- the image contains kids

Yeah, an LLM has to be trained to recognize stuff. But that'd need whole lotta csam on hand to feed it to it... so that's a better solution: should be able to recognize the two things separately, and check an image for both.
