How to stay concentrated, Bernd, especially when working at home???
I noticed that recently quality of work I do is very low, I do it hours before deadline is due, rest of the time is spent doomscrolling or listening to history lecture on utub.
I postpone everything including my hobby projects that used to please me a lot.
At the same time I feel like I have too much ongoing tasks simultaneously and is working my ass off, but even right now I'm making this thread instead of wroking.
How to stay concentrated and focused, Bernd? How to get into the grindset?

My monitor broke maybe an hour after I cleaned the surface with alcohol. I used a sprayer to spray on the alcohol and a paper towel to wipe it off. There was never enough liquid on the monitor that it could have went into the gaps and short circuited some connection. Hence, I believe that the mechanical stress of wiping off the monitor damaged something in the panel, that lead to a complete destruction of the panel.
That means the problem is in the fragility of the panel itself.
High tech is usually highly centralized. There might be a couple hundred factories worldwide that currently produce 27 inch panels but they will mostly use the same production steps. There might be differences between a VA, TN, or IPS panel. Especially considering mechanical stress I can't find anything doing ans quick search.
I tried buying a brand name expensive monitor thinking that this would mean higher quality but I made a bad experience with it. Now I will try a cheap one. High tech usually does not provide metrics like durability, so I can either do extensive research hoping to find something in the breadcrumbs but I'm not willing to dedicate time into that. So I'll just do my own experiments. What is your problem with that?
My employer gave us the possibility to use Microsoft Copilot at work. It is basically just chat-gpt4 for companies.
I have tried to use it a bit whenever I had questions that I would usually look up in the internet. Whenever it answers it also references the sources it got those answers from.
The default language was german so it always referenced german sources. Those were all garbage. The german internet is awful for answering IT-related questions. Just random german sites that looked like they were optimized to get as many google clicks as possible to gain ad revenue from it. If I found something like this via a search engine I would never trust it. I wouldn't even be sure if most of the articles were written by some AI itself. I think this is an interesting observation. Non-english LLM-users will always have a worse experience.
Eventually I switched everything to english. But even then it was really hard to get any usefull link from it besides wikipedia. Usually it references just posts from random forums. Especially regarding programming a big part of the internet is from Indians that shit bullshit articles and forum posts into the internet trying to gain reputation from them to score a job in the wect.
For questions that I had a hard time looking up in the internet myself it was no help at all. It just repeated what it already said over and over against. It is useless for anything that goes over the stuff you might be able to read on wikipedia yourself.
As a long term internet and search engine user the most useful skill is to filter out all the garbage links from the reliable sources. It seems like chat-gpt is not capable of doing this in the slightest. It takes everything it reads as a fact. Since most of the internet is filled with garbage it will inevitably result in chat-gpt being garbage as well. I might be able to tell chat-gpt to try to answer the question only using eg. stack-overflow but then I might just as well use google.

Mostly the same. It can help you only in cases when you don't know what you're doing but I try to avoid such cases in general, otherwise it brought me zero value.
The only useful application of LLMs for me was ironically the human to human interaction. Like when I need to compose a formal letter, article introduction or something of the sort.

I used to buy a pack of these every couple of months. Smoke like quarter to half of it along with some beers over an evening and then throw the rest away. This was perfect because I was not addicted and could go months without smoking anything while still being able to enjoy it every once in a while.
I stopped doing it because I doesn't make me feel good anymore. It just smells bad and gives me headaches.
Exactly. One of the richest examples of commercial design turning into an ugly grey little box with shocking imagery is the perfect allegory of what our world has turned into.
