How to move to Thailand or some other warm and cheap place and work full time remote as a codegarch for a wectern salary while living like a king? I have nothing that keeps me here.

I'm thinking of finding a 100% remote position in the germanistan and then just move somewhere else while still officially living here. Then, when I found a place to stay permanently I can still figure out to make it more official.

do you really want to live somewhere with hot weather and high humidity?
GermanyBernd2023-02-15 17:33:38 · 3yNo. 255251reply
Sure. Why not?
Winter always makes my depression worse and I have way more energy in summer.
PolandBernd2023-02-15 17:39:36 · 3yNo. 255255reply
that's interesting, heat always makes me feel extra lazy and almost brain dead

aren't you scared of dangerous spiders and snakes?
GermanyBernd2023-02-15 17:42:35 · 3yNo. 255256reply
You can always work in a air conditioned space. I'm only scared of getting parasites or food sicknesses from poor hygiene in terms of food.
PolandBernd2023-02-15 17:48:16 · 3yNo. 255259reply
so when are you going to move?
GermanyBernd2023-02-15 17:51:48 · 3yNo. 255260reply
I don't know. I would have to find a 100% remote job first.
Do you want to come with me?
GermanyBernd2023-02-15 18:07:09 · 3yNo. 255265reply
just do it kek it's not hard

Good luck, but would probably be good to go on a longer vacation there to see if you really can live there long term.
GermanyBernd2023-02-15 18:11:16 · 3yNo. 255269reply
Why don't you go somewhere else to live?
GermanyBernd2023-02-15 18:30:10 · 3yNo. 255289reply
i already did homeoffice in coffeeshops in amsterdam and sometimes I work from France

but I like it here, friends, people etc.

once I know Chinese well enough I think I'll go to China for a year or two though
PolandBernd2023-02-15 18:48:46 · 3yNo. 255307reply
it depends, will you protect me from insects?
GermanyBernd2023-02-15 18:49:21 · 3yNo. 255308reply
>I'll go to China for a year or two though
Why would you want to do that? A vacation of a couple of weeks, sure, but living there? From the outside it seems like a terrible place to live in, especially as a Western foreigner.
GermanyBernd2023-02-15 18:53:19 · 3yNo. 255315reply
Of course. I will also spritz you with water, when it gets too hot for you.
PolandBernd2023-02-15 18:58:22 · 3yNo. 255320reply
oh no, excess moisture would wreck my hair; you may fan me with a giant leaf though
GermanyBernd2023-02-15 19:02:11 · 3yNo. 255322reply
I will put a ventilator towards you since it would do a better job anyway, and will occasionally feed you with grapes. Deal?
GermanyBernd2023-02-15 19:09:55 · 3yNo. 255328reply
>Why would you want to do that?
to learn Chinese

I give myself 3 or 4 more years until I go

nothing in life goes as you plan it but it might be my last big adventure before I start a family

>it seems like a terrible place to live in
its dont
GermanyBernd2023-02-15 19:12:24 · 3yNo. 255329reply
>its dont
How do you know that?
PolandBernd2023-02-15 19:14:22 · 3yNo. 255332reply
replace grapes with strawberries and we have a deal; and you must use your fingers, no cutlery
GermanyBernd2023-02-15 19:20:56 · 3yNo. 255336reply
Will you lick my fingers clean when they are soiled with strawberry juice?
GermanyBernd2023-02-15 19:21:21 · 3yNo. 255337reply
Please explain yourselves. Why are you like this?
GermanyBernd2023-02-15 19:36:35 · 3yNo. 255340reply
Moving to Thailand together is a huge endeavor. It should be rather obvious that we have to clarify a lot of details before we can set off.
GermanyBernd2023-02-15 19:43:35 · 3yNo. 255341reply
no place is shit if you have money and are able to socialise
PolandBernd2023-02-15 20:22:31 · 3yNo. 255347reply
that's a given, silly; truth be told, the real treat are your fingers - strawberries, while delicious, are merely an excuse
GermanyBernd2023-02-15 20:40:29 · 3yNo. 255356reply
What if by complete accident some strawberry juice landed on my lips. Would you lick them as well?
PolandBernd2023-02-15 21:03:05 · 3yNo. 255362reply
I guess then I'd have no choice but to trip over my own feet, not on purpose of course, and if as a result my lips happened to land on yours then it would be prudent not to waste any strawberry juice, don't you think? I should probably also check if there's any juice inside your mouth while I'm at it

AI makes code this days.

Codemonkey demand is low, codegarchs are a rare breed now.

It's ogre.

Besides, labor law may prohibit you from leaving Germany / EU in general during your codegarch contract

Invest a shitload of money until you can live off the capital gains, then move there and enjoy a NEET lifestyle abroad.
t. does just that

How much money do you need?
NetherlandsBernd2023-02-16 17:28:58 · 3yNo. 255504reply
It depends on how long do you plan to live. Would 10 years be enough for you?
GermanyBernd2023-02-16 17:37:28 · 3yNo. 255507reply
More like 30.
How much would you need for 10?
NetherlandsBernd2023-02-16 17:49:00 · 3yNo. 255509reply
South-East Asia is quite cheap if you move away from tourist places, I spent something like $5/day for food (for two) and up to $20/day for rent apts, I believe long term stay is even cheaper. Working as an average codemonkey for a year you should be able to afford few years of living there.
I'm not sure I would survive there if I spent 30 years though, I lived there for only three months and I really missed the civilisation in the end...
AustriaBernd2023-02-17 07:55:20 · 3yNo. 255595reply
For a comfy life and infinite regrow of your funds by capital gains minus what you need to live, about 500-1000k.
GermanyBernd2023-02-17 14:32:59 · 3yNo. 255618reply
Damn. I'm a little short of this. Would you help a fellow Bernd out with a couple hundred thousand, mate?
