had to google that but it's actually the same thing (maybe fillings are different, pierogi ruskie are made with potatoes, caramelized onions and cottage cheese); frying makes them crunchy on the outside and combined with cold sour cream it's just the best thing ever
also, funny thing, lots of people think that pierogi ruskie originated in Russia, and when the war started some restaurants actually re-named pierogi ruskie to pierogi ukraińskie; but they're actually from a region called Ruś Czerwona (Red Ruthenia), which is a part of Poland and Ukraine now
