I wonder how Russians feel about this guy being the most famous person of 2021-2022
Literally everywhere you turn you see pictures of him talking about some mundane shit related to the war which I couldn't possibly care any less about
He is like the boyband of the western world

In Western media which Russians don't read. For them he's definetely not the most famous as Russian media' official take is that nothing is happening except some small-scale pinpoint operation so there's nothing to discuss and no famous persons to show.

Isn't it restricted in Russia now?
Even if it isn't, they mostly use the Russian-language part of it as with any other social media or streaming platform, the western winds don't blow there.

I believe Russia isn't very far from consuming wectern media, especially since there are some Russians who consider themselves European, Saint Petersburg and all.
I really don't think they're that far removed from what goes on in the western world. Some might not care, sure, but I still believe that they have some connection to the west through the internet. They are able to consume western media through the websites they find themselves in, many times, though selective it is present. I'm no Russia expert by any means, but I do seem to stumble across them many times over the internet which leads me to believe that they have some knowledge of international affairs.

Most of them don't consider Europe European though, they think it gone wrong. Just like some of our friends from /hs/
Of course there are also more westernised people, especially among the younger generations, they also have better English and therefore can consume and that's the people you meet across the Internet. But it's a small percent of the population, very far from majority.
These people would probably feel about this guy the same way you do but some annoying pictures in the media is the least of their problems now.

Yes. And if before February-March, many by inertia still looked to the West as a role model, now they are not. The Western world, faced for the first time with the same problems that Russia has faced more than once, began to behave in the same way. Only beaten (((Russians))) liberals continue to believe in some strange mantras. The unkind are just openly paid by wect like Volkov or other bastards from Navalny's team. In general, after all this months open Russophobia and lies from wect word, most boomers simply hate the West, and fun fact now zommers too.

Why do they seem way more based than those that went to Germany I read about recently?

'Ukrainian students complain about war-weary Germans'
He also senses a change of mood among Germans, a "war fatigue" and a shift in reporting priorities - away from Russian war crimes and toward utility bills, inflation and increased food prices.

"These are all important issues that I, too, suffer from quite personally on my modest salary," Poliluev-Schmidt emphasizes, "but sometimes the wrong impression is created that we Ukrainians are responsible for this situation rather than, say, the Russian aggressor or Germany's decades-long energy dependence on Moscow." Against that, he says, much more education needs to be done. Plitkova just snorts disdainfully when it comes to the subject. "War fatigue?" she asks rhetorically. "It's a luxury to be war-weary in a still safe country like Germany, while in Ukraine bombs fall every day, people die, and survivors are tortured and raped."

I really dislike their entitlement. Shocking, that Germans currently might have other problems than caring for Ukraine.
Like dealing with rising prices, being able to still pay bills, rent etc.
>"It's a luxury to be war-weary in a still safe country like Germany, while in Ukraine bombs fall every day, people die, and survivors are tortured and raped."
To me it seems like a luxury to flee the country (with which I actually don't have an issue), getting hosted, money and the opportunity to study in Germany for free and still complain about...what exactly? Ukraine not being the Nr. 1 topic in the news? Germans not leaving their life and the high bills behind and fight for Ukraine?
Still, why not stay there and shoot cannons? Are you war-weary or what's wrong? *snorts disdainfully*

There're just people who think everything in the world should work for them exlusively. It has nothing to do with their cultural and historical background, they exist and always existed among every nation.
They also like attention for the same reasons, that's why you often heard some bullshit from them going in media and elsewhere.

And yes, you can call a luxury to be safe in some sense. But it's a luxury Germans worked hard for. That "disdain" over somebody enjoying something they earn when you don't have it is usually called "envy".
