So this is sending me into a frothing rage every time I hear this: Apparently the sentence "Viking is a verb" has become some kind of meme amongst people who pretend to know anything about Vikings. But it's just 100% wrong. It's like these people were saying the sky is green and grass is blue. Viking is a noun. It's a noun in English and it's a noun in Old Norse, the language the vikings spoke.
Example:
What these people are trying to say is that "viking" is not an ethnicity, but more like a job description. But it's still a noun.
If any Bernds care I'll elaborate and even provide sources from sagas saying "xy var víkingr mikill" (xy was a great viking) and stuff like that.
