Both Hungary and Serbia have elections this Sunday.
The opinion polls in Hungary are close, Orbán seems to be hovering just below 50% (which however would still allow him narrow majority due to votes to parties below threshold). This time, most opposition parties are running as a single coalition.
In Serbia, Vučić seems to be more comfortably slightly above 50% in polls. Note that in Serbia, both parliamentary and presidential elections will be held at the same time this time.

I find it very strange that people can put up with parties having >50% of votes

Turns out it's actually the other way around lol.
Orbán is landsliding it, meanwhile Vučić (based on parallel count) won barely over 40%.

Actually.
Orbán and co. can start their 4th four year term. With 2/3 of the seats.

The leader of the Two Tailed Dog Party stated that the opposition wanted to pool their votes, in the hope that 2+2 will equal 5. They could only manage to 3.

Elexions on the frons today, 1st round.
Results will start being announced at 8PM (though in overseas territories, polls have already closed).

Turnout seems to be low.

Western mainstream politicians need to stop being such shitty liberals that voter turnout lowers and right wing lunatics can grasp power.

I'm not saying she is winning. I'm saying Macron should be better so we wouldn't even be talking about a chance of her winning.

Nothing too surprising, it seems.

Imagine 1 left wing candidate with 20% vs 5 right wing candidates with a combined 80%, but no single one of them over 20%.

Basically this >>145715 but to elaborate further: not having this system would force candidates from the same general political option to join forces from the beginning, which leads to them having to take more compromises before the elections already. In general, this kind of dynamics will slowly railroad politics into a two-party system, as it becomes preferrable to consolidate behind two blocs rather than keeping more smaller parties that might cater to individual voters better with their nuanced issue based programme differences.

My uncle told me today before going back to Paris that he would have voted for the green guy but it's useless since he won't get 5% anyway so he has to vote for Macron to weaken Le Pen.

Sounded very Germany.

Can't he just vote for the green guy now and vote Macron in 2nd round?
I don't think anyone thought Macron not advancing was possible in any realistic scenario.
