I've recently become interested in coffee. I have a shitty sense of taste and don't know much about the subject. At my old job there was some green vegetation growing in the coffee machines waterholder.
How one should brew it at home? Is a French press the optimal choice for maximizing the amounts of fats and other stuff in it? Should one go for darker roast or lighter? Darker roast seemingly is friendlier for the stomach and has less caffeine in it. Is it worth it grind the beans yourself?

I don't like coffee but I like drinks and similar stuff that have coffee flavour.
Not sure which one is more friendly with the stomach, but it's as much I know a myth; that one has more or less caffeine than another.

"A dark-roasted bean contains more caffeine than a light-roasted bean due to its stronger flavor. Not true. Actually, the caffeine content in both is virtually the same."

I am not sure how trustful "coffeebros" is, but they seem legit.

I'm by no means a coffee connoisseur. My coffee consumption decreased a lot and I only drink 2 cups in the morning.

I've been using (exactly 2, first broke) French Presses only. It's doesn't cost much, I used to like the coffee taste it produced and is simple too clean. Grinding beans directly before brewing is something I've always done and is universally recommended, because best flavour etc. I stopped buying the 'big brands' coffees and currently pay about 15 Euros for 500g. Which for some, is still cheap crap I think.

I mostly switched to more expensive one because I tried narrowing down a problem I have developed over recent years in regards to coffee taste. Obviously Bupropion (which I am on for some time now) can somehow alter your taste buds, so things taste differently. Ever since I really dislike the taste of coffee, because it leaves a really foul taste in my mouth which is horrible. Therefore I actually loathe coffee today.

I tried everything: different coffee beans, different brewing temperatures, different kinds of milk (even soy and oat), but nothing helped. I can't bring myself to drink more than 2 cups in the morning. And even though I know I am gonna hate the taste, I still brew and drink coffee every morning because that's what I've done for years. Maybe it also has something to do with coffeine addiction. Probably it's not that bad, since I drank a lot (as in x litres/day) coffee before the destruction of my coffee taste buds.

I just buy the cheapest beans from lidl and use french press because it's dirt cheap and. Also no need for filter bags and such. I have no idea what I'm doing but it tastes pretty good.

Dark roast is nicer for tummy so I like it.

Actually, gentlemen drink water. It's most healthy and effective. And it's also free.

true, but drinking wine daily (specifically red wine and before going to sleep) really helps to increase the levels of good HDL cholesterol.

Also; some people suggest that drinking real natural coconut water can be healthier than water, but I am not so sure about that one tbh.

Steel Moka pot and a light to medium roast, grind it a little finer than for french press.
