Boring and too much emphasis on action. A lot of the crucial parts of the book had to be cut out to appeal to a wider audience and I think this is what will short the success of the movie's legacy.
I'm curious why they black washed Kynes too. Some casting is off, except the Haekonnens, which I believe were done well.
I almost forgot about the cgi. It has a cheap feeling to it and certain scenes are too hasty to show a half a second scene that either fails to develop the character or flow to the following scene.
I feel pirates remorse over this.

It's not a bad movie. There's good redeeming parts but I feel that it moves too quickly for my liking. The colour filters are annoying too.
The first book is great. Second is good. Third is a slog. Fourth becomes a tedious bible of paradoxes and cheap, underdeveloped secondary characters who've become one word mirrors for the advancement of Leto II's plotline.

tbh, at this point I'm kind of awaiting for animation to have a resurgence, past the 3D CGI shit that's too prevalent nowadays
GAN can probably be used to assist artists a LOT in turning still frames into animated scenes without losing much on quality
in that case, I really hope someone decides to do another take at Dune – in a psychedelic style 2D animation.

I need to follow up on the comic that refurbished a lot of the pre-production artwork.
He did have a vision, and I think his choice in bands was better than the score that appeared in the newest Dune. Props to the composer who made a good bagpipe score when the house Atreides was descending their space carrier.
Can it be done in today's world? Whoever owns the rights to Dune (dog forbid it's Frank Herbert or a corporation), would likely avoid risking a large budget on an animated series when there's already a good amount of theatrical media covering the series, resulting in a cheap production. Netflix does seem to have done some good work lately with some projects, but I wouldn't entrust them seeing as they're needling propaganda into their work, just as this recent movie didn't take into account how monolithic the Fremen genetic line should have been after being secluded from the empire for thousands of years.

>muh property rights
It will be done once the American hegemony is taken away with, inshAllah.
Preferrably I would see Russians do it, too.

>Russian Dune
Kin Dza Dza already exists kyu. I think France has a stronger animation industry to handle a heavy beast as the likes of Dune.

this it's clearly viral marketing targeted at imageboards, same thing happened with chernobyl, it's stale as fuck and annoying

I'm guessing movies are $10 cad here, not that I can go to them now as an unvaccinated.
Edit: Found out an adult ticket is in fact $17.95 cad.

There's one thing I didn't understand in the movie. Why throat singing was not Harkonnen, but Sardaukar thing. Were they supposed to be Hungarians? They language sounded kinda Hungarian.
