Do other Bernds do intermittent fasting?
I've been dabbling with it for a while, but now I want to take it more seriously. I want to lose weight and I've heard it might help to decrease inflammation, encourage tissue repair and it even helps tolerate pain. All of these things would be beneficial for me because of my knee injuries.

unintentionally.

I'm doing uni online, so I'll spend 8-10 hours doing work and then I'll forget to eat.
I do no exercise at all, yet I have somehow managed to maintain the same weight.
I personally feel like shit all the time, but I think its because I eat absolute garbage, and I eat very infrequently.

Although, I think you can plan your fasting around your sleep schedule so that most of the fasting time is spent asleep.

>knee injuries
Sad! Have you tried cold laser treatment? Might be a help for for both tissue repair and pain relief. How long has it been since the original injury, if you want to say?

Also no exercise.

Do you usually eat when you are asleep?

My doctor hasn't said anything about laser treatment. What kind of injury is it good for?
FinlandBernd2020-11-16 19:36:57 · 6yNo. 104541reply
Should be good for almost any kind of injury, but always more effective in the case of acute injuries of course. Also good for healthy tissues and can be used to treat eg. hair loss. Supposedly a fairly potent treatment for brain injuries, including brain anatomy changes from prolonged PTSD.

However, cold laser is wrongly considered to be alt medicine by many ignorant dogtors so your doctor may not be able to give accurate advice on the subject

Here is an article on knee pain and cold laser treatenings https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4331569/

Well, since there isn't any known mechanism how it should work and decades of studies have been done about it, but it hasn't proven to be more effective than a placebo, I think it is pretty safe to say that it is alt medicine.

Both false. It works by stimulating the metabolism of the cells by providing them with more energy (it is tissue penetrating light after all) and stimulating tissue renewal in this fugging way.

The effectiveness of the treatment has been proven for numerous things in thousands of studies, one of them being the one I linked in the previous post

Why don't doctors and wikipedia editors agree with you, then?
FinlandBernd2020-11-17 15:23:11 · 6yNo. 104571reply
Not an argument, but like I said a ton of research physicians have studied LLLT for various uses and foubd it to be effective. Youcan go to eg. the NCBI website and find a godrillon research papers on the subject.

As for dogtors engaged in treating patients, some of them view LLLT positively whileas others view negatively, the former being the more scientifically informed view. There are entire clinics and hospitals in the world dedicated entirely to laser treatments (which includes more than just cold laser obviously)
FinlandBernd2020-11-17 15:35:12 · 6yNo. 104572reply
On the subject of wigibedia, even though the article assumes a negative attitude towards LLLT, it refers to several studies that support it being it being an effective treatment for several different conditions. Even this butthurt Wikipedia page is forced to admit that there is evidence for its effectiveness.

Some studies use parameters (wattage and wavelenght mainly) that don't produce results, whileas when using the correct parameters that allow deep skin penetration and provide the cells with the right amount of stimulation you can into results

Been doing 18/6. With saturday and sunday my joker days for a month.

Coupled with exercising 4 days a week and cycling, I've been consistently losing about 1 kg per week, I've been feeling more energetic and hornier.

I've been doing it for a month and went from 92 kg to 84. My goal is to reach 77.

I've been doing one-meal-per-day for the past 5 months. (So that's 24 hour fast everyday).

I can say that I feel stronger and I have lost about 3kg of fat but I also quit processed sugar.

There was one time when I unironically starved myself for 24 days. Full fasting. I ate nothing.
You may be unimpressed since 24 is not that much but the thing is, the first thing I consumed other than water was a full glass (a glass, not a shot) of vodka
I threw up and didn't get drunk at all, after that I felt bad for a week and started eating again to get rid of the constant nausea
