anyone ever used one of these for emulation? looking to build a semi-portable emulation station that i can take with me on the road.
how accurate are they? is latency and/or slowdown a huge issue? id be outputting to a CRT most of the time.
im only really looking to emulate up to about the 16bit era, maybe some arcade games too if it can handle it.
cant imagine that i would need a very expensive one but there sure are a lot of options. makes my head swim just trying to remember which is which.
also, id like to at least be able to play 2 player, and if possible up to 4 player games.
it looks like all the newer ones the "4" models have 4 USB slots, but are a bit more expensive.
but i was wondering if there was any way to cheese this, perhaps with some sort of "USB multitap" or whatever youd call it?

and if anyone has ever built one, how hard is it to deal with all those really small wires/chips on the PCB in terms of soldering? im ""okay"" at soldering and have done it a lot with like guitars and stuff like that, but tbh im kinda intimidated to try something as small as those raspberry kits that come totally un-assembled. my hands arent that steady

picrel is the one im eyeing up rn
you think this would be adequate?

there are lots of diy tutorial on making console emulator from pi, i.e. retropie.
also kinda off topic but i recently stumbled upon this thing, its a fucking coin sized linux pc with wifi.

prolly just gonna go for the newer one 4B i guess.
its hard to find anyone who ships the older ones w out ridiculous shipping costs. my buddys got amazog prime, so ill just buy it through him and itll end up being cheaper.
plus the new one has a fan and can be overclocked to ~2Ghz, which while totally unnecessary for what im going to do with mine most of the time, is pretty kewl
didnt realize these things had gotten so powerful tbh

the biggest nightmare so far has been trying to find a 3.5mm/rca cable that will work with pi
so many online vendors dont even bother to put the pinout on their cables. its retarded

>fucking coin sized linux pc with wifi
thats pretty darn #WOKE ngl

damn
heres this geeky lookin dude with a weird nose that says after overclocking it, it runs dreamcast
i dont really remember too many games from it other than crazy taxi and jet grind radio, but thats honestly really fucking impressive
also psp and playstation
idk what im more impressed with tbh
the madlads making such affordable and powerful little mini computers
or the maniacs making such accurate emulators on said mini computers
