How is it?

Thinkgen about getting into my very first MMORPG myself and only heard good things about FFXIV.

It's really great, I have been a WoW veteran since Vanilla beta so I can't say it isn't my #1 MMO still, but in its current state I'd definitely say that FF14 is the better MMO with a far more pleasant and comfy experience. It starts very slow, the story is boring and the main scenario quest design sucks in the base game before the first addon making you do fetch quests a lot, but if you can fight through those first ~20hours it is really worth it and only gets better with every addon. Community is very friendly and memey, there is social happenings and random RPing everywhere, dungeons are great, classes/jobs are great, it just does everything right.

There is a free trial btw that let's you play the base game + the first addon until lvl60, which is like 50-100hours content, so just try it out.

Seems very alluring tbh.

Maybe I download it for the next weekend, had some pleasant experience with that Fallen Earth Classic recently, but it lacks more refined gameplay and especially any kind of waifus.

Killed big snek today with 10 people. Lvl51 now, but in between these very fun moments there is really too much of "run to X and talk to Y" shit, meh at least you only have to do it once when you play the story

NieR always looked good to me, will check it out some day thanks. Happy and busy enough with FFXIV now even though the last time I played an FF game was FFXII demo on PS1 I think

The graphics are a little irritating, some of the old zones look really cheap and bad, I guess they wanted to keep the performance up at the cost of terrain graphics quality, but the character models and spell animations are top notch, and I assume the maps in the later addons as well
