PureDarwin is a community project that aims to make Darwin more usable

I'm already using MacOS. If I wanted to go fully obscure, I'd use GNU/Hurd.

It seems cool!
If I can run a free (libre) operating system, I don't particularly care of the kernel. I do have a lot more hope in gnu hurd than this.

I don't get kernel autism tbh. Why not just use a libre linux kernel?

honestly when i've tried PureDarwin it ends up in black screen; have to read their wiki to deal with it.
i've also tried FreeBSD and openindiana and both are not ready for desktop confirmed.

Why do you try these obscure OSs? Is it a hobby of some kind? Do you intend to use them?

until tried i was not sure of obscurity level. yeah, i considered them to be useful then

author of GNU-Darwin seem to became schizofrenic, sad!

I'm not surprised. Many IT-people involved with such things seem to be mentally ill.

I run the linux-libre kernel, but the linux kernel is in need of a trim and has resisted the gplv3.
There has been a project going over old linux kernel code and rewriting it in modern standards; it has already made significant speed improvements.
Hurd kernel would e very cool because of its microkernels and the idea of a 'gnu machine'

Apple A series processors beginning with the A7 contain a Secure Enclave coprocessor running an L4 operating system[14] based on the L4-embedded kernel developed at NICTA in 2006.[15] This implies that L4 is now shipping on all iOS devices, the total shipment of which is estimated at 310 million for the year 2015.[16]
