Also soon there will be nvidia support for xwayland, so the last obstacle towards using it everywhere is gone.

 

Who cares about some random distro noone uses anyways, if they want to stick with Xorg they can, they just have to maintain it themselves.

Irrelevant and obscurantist distros will continue to exist and brew their own alternatives to the systemd ecosystem. Maybe some will die, but some will persist. They are shit already anyway, so I don't worry about this.

Good for you if it works. Personally, I don’t care for Distros whose gimmick it is not to use systemd. I just pick whatever is most suitable for my use case from the most popular, best supported ones. Right now it’s Debian for me and kubuntu for my mum.

Im pretty sure XFCE wont drop x11 any time soon and it works just fine in *BSD

IIRC Wayland was successfully ported to FreeBSD, and Gnome and KDE Plasma work fine. OpenBSD doesn't support Wayland but, ironically, Gnome (also Red Hat founded) still works with X11 while KDE Plasma doesn't. I don't know about other BSDs.

For me... Arch is way easier than Debian based distros... idk... I tried Linux back in 2008 when I was 13.. it was with Ubuntu 9.04 I do believe, then when they release 10.04 I switched to Fedora but did no tlike it so I hopped to Arch and never looked back... It is so simple and ez. At some point back in 2020 I tried Artix and I did like it but I had have problems due SoystemD then I switched to SolusOS which is great but the lack of binaries and the fact that I do not have time to compile and maintain .eopkg bins... made me switch back to Arch.

 

Arch is simple and even a dumb monkey can handle it, that is why, I bet, VALVe switched from Ubuntu to Arch for its 3rd SteamOS version.

 

Arch is so damn simple.
