KEK is an Organization for Research in High Energy Accelerator Physics. One of the laboratory sites is in Tsukuba, Ibaraki. Nobel Prize-nominated physicist Makoto Kobayashi, an expert in CP-violations, once worked there.

 

Other lines of research have been pursued. This remains one of the most important laboratories.
