Consumer commodities and alienated subject work in a symbiotic relationship. Consumer capitalism tailors itself to stimulate the deepest desires of the consumer, which ultimately shape and molds the consumer in the image of whatever spectacular commodities they consume. The new, warped consumer then demands new and different products from consumer capitalism, which (always willing to oblige to the cravings of the consumer) repeats the cycle by providing even newer products that continue to disfigure the psyche of the alienated subject until all identity is ultimately found in consumer products.
The talking heads in your OP image are ultimately no different from the candy characters they interact with.
