This is retarded. Just look at this:

Not surveillance is the problem but the entity that does it. Who is it, what it does with the info, who supervises the observer, etc. etc.
Even those who actually have stuff to hide - let's say a criminal doing crime - they don't fear the surveillance but the "feedback" they get for their deeds.
