When I was young I used to chat on MSN messenger with an estonian girl whos name was Pillerine, so this song always reminds me of her and those times we chatted.

Reminds me of the good old days when I traveled to Turku to get shitfaced with my friends there, good times

Some death punk, band started much heavier and the fandom seems to be split, there's those who think only the old and heavier songs are good and that nowadays the band is too much like pop punk.
Personally I love it all. Great band.

And what would the thread be without some Misfits...

... Some Ramones ...

... And some Sex Pistols (overrated imo and not for me but still important and historically heavy impact)

I can listem to 2-3 punk songs but then I usually got enough of that genre for a week.
FinlandBernd2022-04-01 00:03:14 · 4yNo. 144053reply
It is undertandable, but the genre has so many different ways of expressing itself. Just like with metal, rock and punk, it depends on the mood and day what I want to listen to.
If someone is introduced to the more "trashier" version of either metal or punk and they decide it is not for them, they might be missing out on the "lighter" and nicer songs of the genre. In this thread I tried to post different types of songs, especially songs that are easier for non-punkers to listen to. Listen to crust or something might kill all interest immediately, and I completely understand that.
But I try to encourage to find new versions of the same music genre, just like with metal or rock (my expertise ends there), one might be missing out on much that they might like if they judge a genre by a few "heavy" samples!

How about the other way around?
I never got into punk because most of it I found either low energy (either outright weak or just loud for the sake of loudness and without any passion). But instead I'm seeing myself getting introduced into punk recently at the other end, where it crosses over with black metal (blackened crust) and especially D-beat seems to be right up my alley.
FinlandBernd2022-04-01 00:22:06 · 4yNo. 144055reply
Good point, I forgot about that. What I said earlier should not shut out people like you, but maybe I am the wrong person to introduce you towards that if I myself lean towards the "softer" and more melodic/artistic/whatever end most of the time. I have plenty of non-imageboard-browsing friends who would be great at introducing you towards more crusty/hardcore punk, shame they have never heard of imageboards. But I do encourage you to experiment, and I think whatever the genre is, I think it belongs in the past when people were bunkered down to one genre and based their idendity of it (yeah I know punks do it still) and hated the others, I think it is much more refreshing to just give in to all the genres you like yourself and there is nothing wrong with disliking something either - personally I don't like hiphop and such. While I love different genres of metal like viking metal for example, and melodic.
I am ashamed to be here preaching like some false prophet about this subject, but then again, who can claim expertise on this broad subject? I will simply encourage you to try punk and crust out if it draws you even slightly to it, you might find hidden gems you never knew you'd love. That is what happened to me several times through my life when flowing through different music genres
