>>250450 If you just put candles in a room the heat of the candles will rise to the top along with the fumes. So it will do more to heat the ceiling than yourself. The pot will catch the heat from the fumes and slowly give it away to the immediate surroundings aka you. I wonder how many candles you need until you get in immediate danger to die of carbon monoxide poisoning. To be save it might be a good idea to open a window a little which probably does more to cool off a room than the candles do to heat it. There were several cases in germany this winter were idiots used grills indoor for heating and died of carbon monoxide poisoning. I believe a better way would be to not use candles and just either move a lot or get into a sleeping bag. You can get easily get a cheap sleeping bag that is rated for minus temperatures. There is no way that you could freeze with this indoors.

>>250523 >hopefully you had a better day bretty good actually. Eating about two Nussschneckens daily since Friday. I wonder how long I can keep this up before I get visibly fat. They are still pretty decent when I heat them up in the oven. I tried putting them in the microwave which worked very well for the brownies but somehow this makes them way worse than eating them right out of the fridge. I already bought rum aroma and more hazelnuts to try to improve on the recipe but it might be a good idea to take a break with the sweets for a week or so. I've noticed recently that on thursdays and fridays my frustration in my job gets so big that I repeatedly think about quitting. However, on mondays and tuesdays I always feel pretty good and can deal with my job pretty well. So I think a lot of it has something to do with exhaustion. Doing sports almost every day probably doesn't help so much. Now I try to do less at my job and sleep more to leave more energy for the rest of the week.
Poland Bernd 2023-01-24 18:55:19 ⋅ 1y No. 250621
>>250606 you could actually calculate that if you know how many extra calories you're getting per day; but I wouldn't worry about it unless you go full binge on those Nussschneckens is there something in particular that's annoying you at work or is it just general frustration? my boss is so infuriating that I'm just counting days until the end of my contract what sports are you doing? you should let your body rest and regenerate, over-training will kill your progress
Germany Bernd 2023-01-24 19:32:50 ⋅ 1y No. 250625
>>250621 My main problem is that it's just no fun or creative anymore. I don't program much but am more of a caretaker of some software features. I'm no software developer anymore but more of a clerk. At my last job I had lots of fun programming but I also earned about 1/3 less money there. I think it is a part of moving up to bigger companies and it might be a good idea to just live with it and reduce working hours from 40 to 35 or even 30 hours, so I can do maybe other activities that I enjoy. Or throw everything away and get ans new job or change departments. >what sports are you doing? Weight training 3-4 times a week and calisthenics 1-2 times. I have a fairly good split and am certainly not overtraining. I just enjoy the hormones that my body produces from sport. But I sleep worse when I train so even when I go to bed earlier I still don't sleep so well. >my boss is so infuriating that I'm just counting days until the end of my contract Didn't you just start it as a new job? Have you already quit? What does your boss do?
Poland Bernd 2023-01-24 20:52:58 ⋅ 1y No. 250635
>>250625 do you want to get a new job? if you're doing something that bores you it's one way ticket to burnout and it's not fun; but I guess it's up to you to decide if it's bearable; reducing working hours is also a great idea maybe you're training too late in the day? I heard it can mess up your sleep I did start last year and signed a six-month contract, I'm not going to quit before that but I won't be signing another contract either (and I already know they want me as a permanent employee); he just says annoying things during the daily meeting like "hey Bernd, have you seen new things in the backlog" (and when I look there is nothing new and I'm left wondering what was that about) or orders me to update some part of documentation but doesn't specify what he actually wants and is vague when asked (but then when I send him the finished thing he suddenly remembers what he wanted and gives me back a list of things to change or add - like he couldn't tell me that upfront); once I asked him a question and he told me to come to his office three minutes before the end of the workday because he couldn't be bothered to type two sentences (and he's like 45yo, so not a senile guy who types two words a minute); I guess it does sound stupid and petty when I write it down (thanks for letting me vent though); I don't know, he just gives off a weird vibe
Germany Bernd 2023-01-24 21:19:38 ⋅ 1y No. 250636
>>250635 I'll probably just change departments and hope the the other department will be better. The company itself is pretty good. They always win prizes for best employer in the region. The work itself is just the problem. You problems with you boss sound like you just have to learn how to properly handle him. Eg. don't do stuff for him until he tells you exactly what he wants. If you already know that you are going to leave you can demand some respect of him even if it might affect your relationship negatively.
Poland Bernd 2023-01-24 22:02:46 ⋅ 1y No. 250642
>>250636 well, I hope it will be better; are you going to switch departments soon or are you going to wait and see how it goes? funny, that's my problem with people in general; I always assume they'll treat me decently and when they don't my brain just short-circuits; but you are right, if I let this continue it's only going to get worse; thank you, it's good advice
Germany Bernd 2023-01-25 16:01:21 ⋅ 1y No. 250725
>>250642 I already told my manager last year that I'm unhappy with the current situation and he offered me a more interesting task which vanished into thin air after a couple of weeks. I think I still need to give him one more chance to change something before I leave, so he can't tell me afterwards that I didn't make it clear to him. In my last two jobs I've always changed jobs after 2-3 years. I'm already 3 years at my current job and I fear that my unhappiness at work does not stem from the job itself but from me. So even if I switch the unhappiness will come back as soon as the novelty of the next job has worn off. So I want to wait and see a little bit more just to make sure that I wont do something that I will regret later.

>>250745 Interesting question. When I think about it I doubt that he forgot. The task itself would be interesting for me but not exactly in the scope of my team. I think initially he just wanted to give me something so I stop talking about going away and after a couple of weeks he said we won't do it and tries to get away with this. This might sound like he is a bad guy but this is not the case. The frustrating thing about managers is that they have a hard time giving responsibilities away which leads to them being completely over their heads with all the tasks they want to do. Which makes them unreliable and annoying to work with. Its similar to the phenomenon that CEOs and company owners tend to be psychopaths. People that would actually be good in those kinds of jobs are intelligent and responsible enough to not do them. >>250746 You seem awfully prepared for a situation like that. Sleep fully clothed and never be without your dressing gown. Ideally you should be wearing a shirt, woollen jumper and dressing gown, maybe with a coat on. Remember thick socks too as your feet will be first to go numb. Candles imo won’t help but if you fill a basin with hot water that will also be good for your feet. Watch out for mould around the windows and in the soil of houseplants if you have them t. Spent the last 2 winters with no heating

Also try to overeat and sleep as often as you can, because you feel so much colder when you’re hungry and tired. Alcohol or cannabis will help you ignore the cold. If you waken pissing sweat then you’re not wearing enough layers in bed. You’ll stink like unwashed balls and you’ll be happy
