Why don't you do martial arts?

It shapes your mind and body, makes you calm and people will respect you for the aura you get when doing martial arts. I'm thinking to learn taekwondo as I have strong legs from cycling every day.

>>242041 I want to learn some katas that I could practise alone at home whenever I feel like it. Like, jumpkicking a punching bag whenever I walk past it.

If you have some knowledge about martial arts, please tell me some things. Can you recommend learning kicks? Can they be used in real fights or will the boxers always win? Since I can not have a driving license I really have muscular legs while my upper body is kinda average. Am I right to choose taekwondo to make use of my body?

I don't like the mentality that is associated with martial arts, if I were to learn a practice that is based around hurting other people I want to be able to use that to terrorize my opponent, not some gay ass ''hurr don't hit anyone that didn't hit you first'' idea. If I were to dedicate my life towards learning something of this type I would want to be as aggressive as humanly possible. I don't want to learn anything about self-defence, I want to cause as much bodily harm towards someone else as possible. Maybe I should look into something like UFC mixed martial arts, something separate from the gay zen. But even then, I have a shitty knee which I broke after an accident, so I can't even reach my true potential right off the bat. It's overrated and gay, there's nothing special about learning how to hit another person in my opinion.

> Why don't you do martial arts? Because I can't decide which school to join. Theres a polish hardcore mma gym here with showers full of mold and half a ufc octagon for practicing cage fighting and theres a normal asia-style fighting school where they drill individual techniques without teaching much about actual fighting. While I am in my late 30s I am in decent shape and could mostly keep up with the poles so their school seems tempting - but the other school has more women and I also need gf. So yeah, what should I do?

>>242068 >>242069 Or I could just practice conventional martial arts while completely ignoring the philosophical aspect of it, which is what MMA fighters do. The entire part about it being some sort of way of living is really exaggerated. Like, you're supposed to be learning self-defence and then afterwards you are supposed to completely change your lifestyle just because you want to hit someone in the face? That's fucking retarded, I want to inflict pain on another human being, how much depth is there really to take away from doing something like that? It's as if when you decide to learn martial arts you are acquiring some sort of deadly weapon that will guarantee you to win a fight, while that is completely not the case. The entire self-control portion of it implies that you'd be given an upper hand in just about any conflict where fighting could take place, while in reality you'd only be in a position of advantage in very specific cases, there's so many variables in a fight that boiling it down to the way you have practiced in your gym is over-simplifying it a great deal. I'd get it if you were given an advantage that would be so great that you'd be theoretically winning every single fight that might have happened with you, but it's just not what happens. >muh zen >muh self control >muh lifestyle choice go fucking kill yourself, you're flailing your arms around like a moron and the majority of the stuff you're learning will never be able to take place in a real fight. Friendly regards, edgy turbo autist

>taekwondo afaik that's one of the gayer martial arts because you don't learn to fight properly. Better start something that would benefit you in a real fight.
Bulgaria Bernd 2022-12-07 19:23:22 ⋅ 1y No. 242095
>>242089 Well if we're going to be serious about all that shizzle, just buy a gun and learn how to use it (if you haven't done that already) and you're settled. No point in going through all the motions when you have access to the great equaliser (firearms). The point of martial arts, as far as I understand it, is in acquiring bodily control more than just learning how to fight; the latter is largely a redundant skill if you live in a more or less civilised place, and if you don't, chances are you already know how to fight.
Denmark Bernd 2022-12-07 19:29:26 ⋅ 1y No. 242097
>>242095 >acquiring bodily control What the fuck does that even mean? What would keep someone from going dancing instead of martial arts if we're talking about bodily control here, something that I barely even know what means to begin with. What's the distinction between someone doing gymnastics from someone who wants to get into martial arts, if bodily control is the desired outcome of it? Literally no value whatsoever, it's a bunch of overhyped fluff that doesn't add to the life of a person unless that person is someone who is very retarded to begin with. If you live outside of Japan or another asian country with a flourishing martial arts scene, and if you take it to your heart, then you are a complete and utter fucking moron.
Bulgaria Bernd 2022-12-07 19:39:11 ⋅ 1y No. 242099
>>242097 I mean learning how to retain conscious command over your movements and reactions in a situation of physical conflict rather than turning into either frightened monke or full retard berserk, which is what people generally do when the adrenaline hits. At least this is what the aikidofags I used to hang around with back in high school used to explain to me. Otherwise I pretty much share your attitude towards martial arts, and have never been interested in them.

>>242092 Taekwondo has K I C K S ! Kicks are much more powerful than a gay punch. Nothing would be more alpha than giving some a spinning jumpkick. Also I agree to Denmark, I want to use this to hurt people. Or better, I want to experience situations where I can use this to hurt people
