The Air Force and Navy may not be like this, but the ROC Army actually is a piece of shit.
For example, while I and the other Privates would learn the rifle, we totally would only shoot 5 times, about 20 shots each.
The army doesn't teach any tactics and strategy, but absolute obedience as well as there are endless chores (such as cleaning the toilet)
I can't believe we were the first to be drafted when the war broke out...
The Navy is certainly useless against PRC, they can sink everything with 1 ship according to this video (and its not even the most advanct or big prc ship)

My advice - don't stay there if tensions rise, book a ferry to Japan or Philippines or Vietnam with your family until Taiwanese government closes the border for all millitary aged males like they do in Ukraine, trapping all able bodied men inside country without chance to leave.
I guess it's right but I don't know the detail of the PRC military.
Despite this, the Taiwan Strait is wide and the weather is bad, the PRC army faces a more difficult challenge than the Normandy Landings.
Taiwan does not engage in aggression and only needs to defend the island which should be the biggest advantage in this war.

I love Taiwan because of the few doujinshi artists.
In their work we see this japanified version of China. Small island produces a lot of art and manga. I can't even imagine the ammount of anime and hentai that we would have if Mainland China was ruled not by communists, but by liberals like in Japan, there would probably be millions and millions of artists drawing anime for the world, drowning it in art.
And to think that communist invasion can one day force my favorite artists out of their homes into misery and war - i don't want that. It can also lead to politization of art, and i don't want it either. I'd rather preffer my Taiwanese mangaka to draw cute girls with pointy ears, instead of drawing crude propaganda comics perpetuating hatred of mainlanders.
