AustriaItalian sweetsBernd2020-07-10 15:12:02 · 6yNo. 99042reply
I feel ambivalent about Italian sweets.

Sometimes, it's like Italian meals - the simplicity just underlines how fucking on point all of it is and you just devour the whole thing. Tiramisu comes to mind or ice cream or Cantuccini.

But others, also regarded as Italian classics, taste just like fatty cardboard, examples being picrel or those horrible large cakes.

Why is that?

Tbh i dont know much about Italian sweets. But i guess every country has its good and bad things. Also maybe some of these sweets are more for traditional or older people maybe. Every country has its own tastes and some sweets are more eaten because of tradition then to savour the taste.
Food like finnish mämmi or swedish surströmming comes to mind, ofcourse these are not sweets but still. Or maybe these sweets dont taste good on their own and have to be eaten with coffee or Capucino.

It's certainly sweet. It tastes like rye and malt.
