I’ve been watching the clock all week, I’m so excited for oktoberfest!

What will Bernd do for oktoberfest? How do you celebrate it?
TexasBernd2026-09-18 23:29:38 · 1mnNo. 365570reply
We are going to a Mead festival tomorrow.
The 09/19 day makes me think it's consciously trying to ride Oktoberfest coattails. I keep expectations low but perhaps there will be a drink that surprises me.
TexasBernd2026-09-19 02:01:04 · 1mnNo. 365571reply
How nice fellow Texan, I too will go out of my house to participate in festive activities. I will go to the McKinney Oktoberfest with my friends sometime during the weekend.
>trying to ride Oktoberfest coattails
Perhaps, both are European folk festivals with celebrations and participants in north Texas. The only things that really matter are whether the drinks are well served in both festivals, only time will tell which one the best.

There will be a Octoberfest in Fredericksburg,Texas from October 2nd-4th. So there's that. Want more info? I suggest googling it. And as Tex said he's going to the McKinney Oktoberfest which is also in Texas that is from September 25th-27th. Have fun. 🍻

American... I do think that exists. Not one of you can be called anything specific except the most fresh immigrants.
You could consider yourself as Mexican I guess. Texas was Mejico before.

TexasBernd2026-09-23 22:19:21 · 4wNo. 365736reply
With what?
>No such thing as German.
After taking some thought I think we can agree on that. “Germany” is a more recent development in world history, the Holy Roman Empire proved that you don’t need a Germany to German speaking. But if we grouped countries on their respective language families then what we would come to find is that England still rules the world. All of this is to say Germany with it being such a relatively new nation it has yet to sympathize a race. Therefore there is no such thing as Germany because there is no such thing as a German, like the tribes of North Africa is so such thing as an “actual African” because there are no Africans, only people who are a product of the geography of which they are born.

Excellent observation Bernd

Pagan meant Christians from the countryside. Christianity was a city/town centric religion. Those communities/communes had bishops who could guard and ensure the purity of the teachings. But Christianity reached into the villages and farms, places where they had no theology and their local beliefs mingled with what they heard when visiting towns or from Christian preachers who arrived to spread the word. And they didn't have churches to have mass, so they preyed at altars set up under the sky.
So if you are in a forest then technically you are a pagan.

Finding an Oktoberfest promotion on a Russian online grocery store that lacks compelling or authentic German items can feel like a mismatched marketing attempt.
Russian online grocers (such as Utkonos, Vprok, or localized diaspora markets abroad like Beryozka or Globus) often lean into seasonal global themes for sales events even if their core inventory remains focused on traditional Eastern European staples, local lagers, or standard mass-market imports rather than specialized Bavarian festival beers, giant pretzels, or authentic lebkuchen.
If you're looking to salvage the theme or find better alternatives, tell me:

* What specific food or drink items were you hoping to find?
* Are you shopping through a local diaspora market or an app based inside Russia?

I can help you track down authentic alternatives or suggest a better menu setup.

10 years ago i visited Moscow and a random little shop had local beer from around my bavarian village.
Guess these times are over. At least they still appreciate Октоберфест and it is not forbidden as foreign western terrorist ritual.
