>Solves a millenium problem
>Proceeds to live like a beggar
Is he retarded? He shows arrogance by showing how "humble" he is.

If he had taken the money, the criminal gangs of Saint Petersburg would have killed him for it.

>Is he retarded?
In a way.
He seems like a prime autist. But the very minimum these guys always eccentric. If they were normal they wouldn't into geometry and shit like that in the first place.

We could turn it around tho.
He was smart enough to realize people are retarded and shouldn't do what their expectations are. He'd consider OP retarded too.

He is high IQ scientist who solve problem of a century.
You can't even imagine how unbelievable strong and precise is his moral.

Better to be hungry than eat a trash.
Better to be alone than with some body random.

Spit on your pig rotty stinky face cunt.

I think he had some kind of beef with wectern academia, thats why he didnt gave a shit about the prize.

People always talk about this guy being a genius.

Has he actually invented anything useful? Or is it just some inconsequential thing that's interesting to math nerds?
GermanyBernd2026-06-18 02:00:03 · 1wNo. 361801reply
Why must it be useful? Anyway, maybe it will be useful in the future.

I don't remember where I heard this, might be uni or school, but math discoveries usually happen before their application is found. Eventually people figure out there's a way to use it in physics, etc.
Take Fourier series for instance. This shit is EVERYWHERE in shaders and I don't think anyone could've predicted that at the time.

It was something in topology I believe, so that’s a maybe, I forgot the problem in particular that he solved.

He solved the Poincaré conjecture which contributed to the theory of Ricci flow. This helps with geometric analysis and other topological problems.

If you think “classify three-dimensional spaces” is useful then it’s useful. However, It seems like one of the more boring Millennium Prize Problems
