I sympathize, Bernd. I don't know the Hungarian border well, but in that direction you have to cross the Carpathians first, which is probably obvious for you. On the border I think all parts you have to cross some river, but on a segment it is the Tisza/Tisa which can be considerable obstacle even up there.

Perhaps you could check the border from the Hungarian side with Google Street view. And ofc Google Earth.

On the plus side, I do not think they send you back from here - but can never know sadly. Even Hungarians can't really leave.

One tip with the poncho: it also stops heat dissipating and overheats after a while exposing you, and itself heats up and it shows up on thermal vision. Perhaps some waterbag could help with cold water as a heatsink, or an aluminium pipe if you can hug it to your stomach - I'm not sure if you get what I mean. Just writing some sudden ideas.

Some gadget exists which beeps when drone is nearby. It is useless on the fronts because some drone always loiters there and they can't know if friend or foe. But for you it could be useful.
