desiring equals suffering, when you butthurt from the fact you haven't got what you want, you catch yourself thinking you suffer from wanting, that's what i keep thinking of past few days, and believe or not but i feel ease from not desiring something, knowing i will end up suffering from the fact i haven't got what i want

still i think does it mean you shouldn't do anything in order to not have desires? or you just shouldn't have high hopes in order to not be disappointed later?

Yesno.
Having hopes and desires help to move forward, they give some motivation, not just to exist, but to make en effort.
Handling failure and disappointment is more important, this is what we should learn better.
When Gautama Siddhartha started out on his journey, first he tried to completely gave upon desires and turned to asceticism, then he realized that's not the way forward. He become Buddha when he reached equilibrium. As Jesus said, we have to give to Caesar (body) what's his, and to God (soul) what's his.

Not just Buddhism tho. Christianity also says that "wanting" is not something to aspire to. Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Envy and Pride is all about "I need more, I want more, I deserve more". Only Wrath is selfless - better to give than get, amirite.

idk, from what i've heard the theme of giving up desire seems to be central in buddhist stuff. like it's the one thing conductive towards the ultimate goal - ascension to nirvana.

not sure if it's the same for christianity. i think it's more about submission to God and so giving up desires is just corollary to that

not a theological expert thou

Pasta with olive oil, Giuseppe.

Want to give up desire is just another desire, another struggle of the ego to get something for itself. Ascension to nirvana won't come if you want it. No wonder Zen discovered the snap.

Jesus and Buddha has more common than you think.
