I heavily doubt that Zelensky hasn't got any skeletons in his closet. The press is just occupied with bigger things than digging for dirt on him.

i can complain and i do complain. Recently Russian government made a law that basically bans anyone from saying bad things about army, navy or airforce. They can fine or imprison me for saying bad things, claiming its misinformation. This leads to laps of improvement, because criticism often leads to fixing potential mistakes, but if criticism is basically banned, then what stops mistakes from being repeated?

but even then, i feel like in Russia i am more free, than in Ukraine. They have streets full of soldiers who just kidnap men young and old and push them into small buses and drive them to TCK centers, train them for 1 week and ship to the frontline. In Russia i can atleast walk free in parks, malls, streets, no one is going to kidnap me.
United KingdomBernd2024-12-29 12:22:17 · 1yNo. 330225reply
Because russia has invaded them and they have far less manpower than russia does. The lack of freedom currently in ukraine is not their own preference or of their own will, it's the responsibility of the Russian government
After the war ukraine will no longer conscript men but russia will still prohibit criticism of the military

its never ok to be a totalitarian shithole where people are like slaves traped in the country from leaving and are hunted by armed goons, beaten and humiliated. What are they fighting FOR then?

This country that treats people like that is not WORTH fighting for. And many people see videos like video related and vote with their legs, leaving this shithole behind, understanding that this country not worth living in, not worth paying taxes to and not worth fighting and dying for.

When they overthrew Yanukovich in 2014, they called it "revolution of DIGNITY". And now they show people what kind of dignity this country provides for its citizens.

They could have chosen a different path - there are many ways to increase number of people in the armed forces. They could have lured people with money, with positive incentive. And they chose instead to treat their people like cattle - with fist and the stock of a riffle, with the boot of the soldier in the face of a person, who supposed to get motivated to defend this country by that. It won't work out and and it doesn't work out.

an end to this, of course, and a future in which the threat of armed men beating and humiliating you is not ever present, as it is in russia.
>When they overthrew Yanukovich in 2014, they called it "revolution of DIGNITY". And now they show people what kind of dignity this country provides for its citizens.
that is the consequence of the war russia forced on them, man. i get what you are trying to say but my above-given examples apply.
yes i hope that after the war ends the authoritarian wartime measures cease and ukraine can continue to address this post-soviet shit slime but right now they are under a bit of duress.
> They could have lured people with money, with positive incentive.
they don't have money, mate. they can't beg the west for guns and beg it for salaries for their soldiers as well, they are already hanging by a thread.

Your entire statement.
RussiaBernd2024-12-30 16:48:01 · 1yNo. 330310reply
What makes you think that these measures will cease if the war end? Do you think Zelensky is going to say "Welp, i ruled enough, now someone can come and TAKE THE POWER FROM ME)))" ? No, he is afraid. During this war, there were thousands of corruption scandals, scandals about troops being sent to death, about incompetent commanders getting promotions. If Zelensky were to give up power and allow freedom of press, people would start TALKING about all those things, and Zelensky and people in his team would be brought to justice or simply killed by armed goons.
So...he doesn't want to end this war at all, and he wants to continue this war because he can remain president and endlessly postpone elections. He doesn't want any peace and he wants to catch people from small cities and villages like cattle and send to frontline, while rich Kiev elites who have money can evade mobilisation. Zelensky and his team make a lot of money on this war, they buy appartments and give away appartments worth 500000$ to the loyalists who praise Zelensky.
This video is of one of Azov batallion "fighters" who routinely licks Zelensky butthole, instead of fighting on the battlefield. He is in Kiev, driving the car that not a single Ukrainian can earn to buy in 50 years, he is making tik-tok videos with elite escort whore on his way to a night club, because he is loyal, he also got a new appartment recently. All while poor Ukrainian grandpas and alcoholics cought on the street are sent to hold the Kursk oblast.

i think he could easily be ousted if he refused to leave but also that he wont be that eager to stay. he's not the tinpot emperor that putin is, power in ukraine is not woven through him and his office the same way as it is russia.
i understand what you are getting at, but this is larger than zelensky. why are these militias able to hold such sway? its because of the war russia initiated. if allowing Ukrainians to live matters so much to you, it's your government that has to change its approach.
despite everything, i do believe that ukrainian civil society can resume a western-leaning and increasingly rule-of-law based organisation for the country's government after the war is over, there is appetite for it.
i don't think you can say 'both sides are equally bad' here. ukraine's government, without offence, is bad insofar as it resembles russia's, that appears to be what they initially protested against in 2014

>i think he could easily be ousted if he refused to leave

Ousted by who? You think he didn't ask himself this question and didn't take precautions? He has removed all the opposition and consolidated all media in 1 hand. Before every oligarch could have their own TV-station, and there was like a plurality of opinions, like a freedom of speech where if you got offended by someone in power, you could go to the opposition TV station and air your grievances. But its now no longer the case. All media is under 1 control. Everyone else was threatened, spooked, closed or fled. They literally were sending soldiers to catch opposition journalists and mobilize them. Western media wouldn't tell you about it. A lot of people were arrested under fake accusations that they work for Putin, if they dared to say something about Zelensky.

>he's not the tinpot emperor that putin is
What makes you think that? You know him personally, or you see a media image artificially created by political image creators to appeal to you?

>this is larger than zelensky.
Yes, its not just Zelensky, its his TEAM. He has administration of people who are all staying in power as long as Zelensky is president. You may not know their names, because they not front and center in media. Do you know who Ermak is? Do you know who writes text for Zelensky speeches? Who controls finances and sits on top of the money flow coming from Europe and USA to Ukraine, who counts the money and redirects it? Thats a lot of people. Its not just Zelensky and his personal ambitions. Its ambitions of the dozens if not hundreds of people who are in power because of Zelensky, and they also actively act to suppress opposition to Zelensky, protecting their power and capital.

Scenes of kidnappings like that became so mundane in Ukraine, that you can probably kidnap people for ransom there and no one will investigate by assuming that this kidnapping is just the regular usual mobilisation and no need to call police or look into it.

this is usually done in wartime. 'he' has not done his, the military probably has.
>What makes you think that? You know him personally, or you see a media image artificially created by political image creators to appeal to you?
i don't even like the man. in a state of invasion the alternative is considerably worse, but this is a wartime government in desperate circumstances. i don't expect a perfectly functioning liberal democracy, only the intention to move toward one after the conflict is over on the part of the voting public. i'm just not humouring the 'both sides are as bad as each other' line
>Yes, its not just Zelensky, its his TEAM
that's called a cabinet. it make up a government.
>Thats a lot of people. Its not just Zelensky and his personal ambitions.
then why harp on about it? why tell me on the one hand that zelensky is a tinpot emperor like putin who has made himself the centre of a client network that can't function without him and then also that he is the figurehead of a cabal?
i'm tired of this tangled rhetoric, it's vomit over the reality of one state invading another, the same stultifying 'plot thickens' spew that i've seen for over a decade at this point.
nobody has sainted zelensky or the ukrainian government, to hold a smaller beleaguered nation under bombardment and invasion to the same standard as you would someplace like belgium is quite simply gay. save your gay memes and gay cunt drivel
