It's kinda strange how a lot of americans online believe that the world is going to end now. I never had the impression that it makes a huge impact what leader or even what party wins the throne. At the end the overall direction is given by the bureaucrats that pull the strings in the back rooms and the general trends.
The parties themselves will deviate in little things from these overall trends. Drumpfs America first policy when he was first presidenc would also have happened with Hillarus under one form or another. It was just a general trend in the wect to try to get more independent from chinese products.

But I was more thinking about different things. Eg. a class D felony is resisting arrest. So say you are a presidential candidate that is against the establishment that goes on tons of demonstrations with a large backing from the population. On one demonstration the police takes you in. A couple of them claim you were resisting arrest -> one year on probation -> you can't be candidate anymore.
Other examples would be you shoplifted a lot 20 years ago because you were poor -> can't be a president ever again. Maybe the secret service finds some reason to raid your house and plants some drugs there -> can't be president.
What you are suggesting is that the power to vote for their president should be taken away from the american people because of some laws of the system he broke. That is antidemocratic.
