Never watched it and never felt the need to. After Boardwalk Empire everyone wanted to make their own equivalent, which is odd considering how little cultural relevance it has today. There was Peaky Blinders in the uk (ridiculous btw) and I suppose this is Germany's, but they all became sillier and more fantastical as they went on, even Boardwalk was a bit retarded in its final season.

I would add early X-Files to your based list. And peep show overstayed its welcome.

I think series 8 is the only bad one

Always found peep show depressing. It has funny moments but it portrays a basically ugly and hopeless world. Like a philip larkin poem without the aspiration to a nameless something more, hidden behind assurances of comforting dissipation. It makes me want to die watching this show, i despise david mitchell and all comics like him as propagandists for the cosmic britain that corrupts everything true in your life

I felt a similar sensation watching peep show, some kind of identification cringe, where it hurts so much you need to close your eyes

But why do you think this is British? It's just very intelligent social commentary that could fit any western society.
