Let's invent a syncretic religion. We'll take circumcision and God from Judaism (which Islam and Christianity already did), 10 commandments from Old Testament, kultur of love and forgive from New Testament, use incoherent phrasing about Jesus so that it's not very clear whether he's considered a son of God or just a prophet so we can cater to Muslims.

This is genius. How come no one came up with this idea before me?
This is the way of the future.

I think we are past the days when we needed a god, as in an old invisible man hiding in the skies.

The new religion will have no god. It will cut away all the bad things of religions (eg indulgance trade), but keep the good ones, like creating communities and social circles, connecting people.

My rendition of this new religion will start by curing people from smarphones. In our weekly meetings, we go to a special facility where we spend an evening together (eating, talking, preaching) and smarphones are VERBOTEN / haram, so people are forced to interact woth each other like in old times.

The ban on phones is temporary, until our disease is cured.

I promise to ban smartphones when I become the new communist dictator of poccner. We will recreate old nokias at our own factories and reinstall all the phone booths on the street.

Sikhism already tried something like this and wasn't very succesful

How did you arrive at that conclusion? I would argue the exact opposite. Having faith would be very healthy for the hyper-materialistic and hedonistic humanity of today.

What you are describing is more like a no-smartphones club rather than a religion.

With "god" I meant this picture of an old man in the skies.

People will always believe in something and it is clear to see that in godless societies money and beauty are filling the void of things to believe in.

I argue that the old image of god is dated and does not fit our times anymore, so our new religion has to deliver something better.
