i did a sin. i made my coffee in the microwave

the problem is my gas stove ran out of gas, mom is in another city and she usually manages all the shit about rent and payment for repair, i have enough money left to pay for the gas stove repair, but i will be left without the money for food, the question is: should i continue to sin, boil the water in microwave and save the money for food, or should i pay for gas stove repair and run out of money for food?

i screwed up from the job again, since im working with mom at the same workplace and she decided to go away and take me with her, so im unemployed again =/

in theory i can take commissions, but who will buy lol

i don't have an electrical kettle, unfortunately, only good old stove one

tastes not as good as stove water. god give me strength to survive

Technically the only thing a microwave is good at is boiling water.
And you shouldn't drink coffee so late otherwise you can't fall asleep tonight.

You can make a russian prison water heater just with two razor blades, some matches, and a wire. Don't eletrocute yourself though.

frying myself wasn't in my plans, but thank you anyway, I'll note that

eh? thank you for care, bernd, but i don't like sleeping anyway..

i have a few packs of instant noodles and undercooked soup (due the dying stove), it's not that tasty but enough to survive, i guess
UkraineBernd2024-09-17 18:32:08 · 2yNo. 320118reply
okay i set the bowl of soup for ten minutes or so, veggies are softened to be eatable but still crunch a little, it's better than nothing to be honest
UkraineBernd2024-09-17 18:46:39 · 2yNo. 320119reply
okay it's not that bad, it was nutritious even, i just had to wait till it cool down a little lol

wanna try by yourself?

I'm too much of an electricity noob to dare.

The water acts like an electrical resistance between the razor blades. This closes the circuit and the water heats up.
If you put the blades closer together or if the water is salty the resistance is lower which means the the current increases. So it might be safer to start your experiments with the razor blades farther apart.
If you put the water in a glass or a ceramic cup and don't touch the water or the razor blades or the non insulated parts of the wire while it is connected you should be fairly safe. The worst that could happen is that your fuse blows and you have to turn it on against.

wont water electrolyze and turn into hydrogen & oxygen(both active and therefore dangerous)
before it could heat itself obviously?
and how do u ensure its efficiency and make it heat faster than it cools down?
for the safety part how do u put the whole thing together if ur an electricity noob? the voltage provided by the socket shall definitely kill u.

just a few wonders, don’t take em seriously :D

Electrolysis is done with DC and not with AC. It requires Ions to move from one side to the other. I doubt that this works very well when the polarity changes 60 times per second.

>and how do u ensure its efficiency and make it heat faster than it cools down?
Power = U*I
Ohm's law U = I*R
Power = U^2/R
U is fixed. The power that goes into the water goes inverse to the resistance. You can control the resistance by the distance between both razor blades. The closer they are together the faster the water heats up until eventually the current will go so high that your breaker pops.

It was possible to buy these kinds of heaters very cheap. I quickly searched here on ebay and aliexpress but can't find them anymore.
