It's great for hiking, a but like budget Switzerland but with chill slav people and great food with a strong mediterranean touch.

Hike in Bosnia. If you step on a mine, visiting a church is almost guaranteed.

I’ve only been to Maribor once, nature was nice, but city was deda. Food was good though, thanks for the suggestion. Which part of Slovenia do you recommend? How is the weather in October?

Well, actually, flight wasn't as cheap as I thought (at least 500€ for the days I wanted to fly) and on second thought I didn't really want to go through the hassle of flying to a foreign country, so I decided I will travel to Saxony to go hiking for the week.

98% of the country is forest. Just choose how hard and long you want to hike on a hiking path recommendation website and go. The capital isn't that special.
