I rarely drink coffee, but today I bought one at work and it’s price was 1,20€ (Cafe Creme). How much does it cost where you live? Is 1,20€ expensive?

1,50-2,50€, depends on what you order: a simple cup of cappuccino or something more complex like gingerbread flavored latte (i miss this thing, it's more tasty than it sounds)

>is 1,20€ expensive?
is that from vending machine? if yes then pretty much, here the coffee from vending machine costs 0.60€ for a cup and it's a bargain to me, i miss the time when you come home from school and order hot milk or irish cream for 0.35€, the cheapest coffee was 0.25€...

Sounds very cheap to me, I think usually it's much more expensive here.
But I also don't drink coffee so I can compare only to my accidental observations in the price lists.

I don't have to pay for covfefe at work. Would also be retarded from employer perspective because it makes you more productive.

Best exemple for cheap coffee in germany are probably the lidl or aldi coffee machines for 1€. I only ever see bydlo buying coffee there and can't imagine why you would want to drink coffee in the parking lot of a discounter.

people always love cheap prices, me included, if you have extra money sure you can go buy a coffee or make your own, if you're happen to have a coffee machine (in case if you like coffee not just as an energy drink), but for someone broke it's a deal, why not
GermanyBernd2024-09-10 15:37:34 · 2yNo. 319147reply
How lazy. Just take a thermos flask with coffee from home.
Buying single cups of coffee is never cheaper than making your own.
UkraineBernd2024-09-10 15:41:04 · 2yNo. 319149reply
no why? how much the pack of 70-100g coffee cost at your place? if you're broke ass or don't have an access for kettle or coffee machine you can use the automat
GermanyBernd2024-09-10 15:47:47 · 2yNo. 319153reply
I usually buy 1kg of organic coffee beans for ~11€. with this I can make so many cups of coffee that I'm pretty sure that a single cup costs less than 10 cents. You probably get cheaper coffee beans for down to 5-6€/kg.
I bought my coffee machine for like 100€ and have it for like 7 years now. And you can get an aero press even cheaper and it makes decent coffee.

Ready-made drinks always have the biggest margins for businesses.

>1kg of organic beans
>100€ coffee machine
enough, he's rich

i just found the 250g coffee drink in lidl for 0.75€ with discount, and another one for 0.69€, sounds like a good deal, hope it's not expired

>10 cents
usually little instant coffee pack has 7-25g of instant coffee, how much do you put approximately?

I just weighted how much ground up coffee I use when I make a cup and it is pretty much exactly 8 grams.
So 125 cups of coffee per 1kg bag or 8 cents per cup of coffee.
UkraineBernd2024-09-10 16:15:38 · 2yNo. 319162reply
im not good at math, but calculating the approximate 2 teaspoons on coffee+price for coffee machine with no addings it turns out to be 0.19€ per one cup

1.100*100÷10= 916.666 ≈9.17
1000*100÷10= 10.000 = 10
10+9.17=19.17≈0.19
as a result 0.19 per cup, i was taught to count this way in school

you can't sell the coffee for 10 cents
UkraineBernd2024-09-10 16:16:47 · 2yNo. 319163reply
mhm, so my method was wrong, i see
UkraineBernd2024-09-10 16:21:37 · 2yNo. 319164reply
i count coffee price with price of coffee machine included, can you could a price of water here? like, not a tap water but bottled one

if you have a handful of coffee then yeah 8 cents
GermanyBernd2024-09-10 16:29:24 · 2yNo. 319165reply
Well if you divide the 100€ coffee machine by 125 you get 80cents. That means if I bought a new coffee machine for each bag of coffee I would pay 88 cents per cup of coffee. Still cheaper than lidl. I don't use bottled water but tap water. I also didn't include milk and sugar. Sugar costs nothing. Milk might add a couple of cents.

Assuming a coffee machine breaks after 5 years of use with one coffee a day that makes 1825 cups of coffee or 5.5cents per cup of coffee. I think my coffee machine made more than that but you also have to include cleaning products to descale the machine once in a while.
UkraineBernd2024-09-10 16:44:29 · 2yNo. 319168reply
mhm, so that's why its so expensive at your place, just the cheapest coffee cup i have in cafe where i work is 0.50€

look if they _theoretically_ have 10kg of coffee for 100€ and coffee machine for 500€, then 10.000÷125=800=80
500.00÷125=400=40

and it turns out as 1,20€ for one cup in vending machine
GermanyBernd2024-09-10 16:48:37 · 2yNo. 319169reply
You missed one zero. When you have 10kg of coffee you can make 1250 cups of coffee from this. Not 125. That makes 12 cents per cup of coffee not 1.20€.
UkraineBernd2024-09-10 16:59:33 · 2yNo. 319174reply
ah oh fuck man, i have no arguments for that, maybe logistical shit I'm not sure

gonna admit the 88 cent version was the closest one,and im wrong after all, my bad

Restaurants have typically more costs than just the material. Like rent for the restaurant and labor costs.
But as a customer that just wants some coffee to go you don't really care for that. Also when you sell a product you don't sell it for it's worth but for the price that people are willing to pay for it. And for drinks people are just willing to pay more.
UkraineBernd2024-09-10 17:33:37 · 2yNo. 319179reply
yeah but it's for low price, that's why im showing, also not to sound i make this up, usually it's indeed more expensive
