Do you look people in the eyes whenever you talk to them? Are you supposed to?

If you have social anxiety, low self esteem, or autism, eye contact might not make much sense to you. Looking someone in the eyes shows confidence, helps you understand non verbal cues, makes you appear more interested and honest, and creates a better impression.

I find it distracting to look someone into the eyes when I'm talking to someone. I feel like I can better concentrate on what I say when my brain does not have to process what my eyes see.

Depends on the situation. Most of the time noone stares directly in the eyes constantly, even with a face to face talk on the side of two tables. When just chatting with a pal on the sidewalk then surely not.

>If you have [...] autism
Fugg. There might be something to it.

I either make zero eye contact with people (which is good when you want to be left alone) or very intense, prolonged eye contact
there is no middle ground
as I understand, you're supposed to look people in the eye and then occasionally look away, but I never know when to do that and it feels weird

no and yes

To me eye contact is just part of the speech. I don't really like it but when I want to highlight something I'm saying or make sure person did hear what I just said correctly I look them in the eyes.

no; yes

shitshitshit. I always thought it was a joge but it seems like I really caught the 'tism.

What goes on in your head while you make eye contact? Are you interpreting the expression of the other person?
>>316072
How do the eyes of a person tell you if he understood what you were saying?

Why would I talk to people?

>>316090
You should do the 'tism test. Maybe you have it as well.

>eye contact is just part of the speech
Essentially. It's like gesticulation.

>>316089
> What goes on in your head while you make eye contact?
basically this: am I staring? oh my dog, I am staring, cock and balls (or other inappropriate stuff that pops into my head), why did I just glanced down at this person's lips, I read somewhere that's weird, did they notice? COCK
> Are you interpreting the expression of the other person?
I suppose I learned to recognize people's emotions and reactions to an extent, but 90% of the time I talk to someone face to face is for professional purposes, so it doesn't really matter
I feel like I'm some kind of freak or an alien left stranded on earth

I should have made a screenshot of 24 points and posted it to make Bernd accept my advis when it comes to how to behave properly.

Please be patient with us normal human. We are mentally disabled.
>>316113
Time to get the shirt or the hat bro. I was wondering if I should tell the guys at work that I am an autist. Maybe I get to use the disabled parking spot there. In the worst case they will start to treat me like a retard.

> How do the eyes of a person tell you if he understood what you were saying?
The facial expressions usually show that and these are easier to read when you look them in the eye. And often people are too shy to say "I didn't get it, could you elaborate" directly but they give you this begging gaze.

(Though I am not completely sure my answers should be considered normal now)

There is a variety of online questionnaires available if you are not sure.

>>316158
It's more that I'm not sure online tests can be effective. For example, in the last one there were several questions like "are you good at small talks?" or "can you keep a conversation going?". I answered "yes", but that's a learnt skill for me, I spent years trying to be better at this stuff which probably biased the results (but unlikely changed my autism or absence of it).
**Also I don't think I actually want to know it...**

i cant, it's overwhelming to keep an eye contact for some reason

Does it even matter if you are an autist when you don't suffer from it and can live a normal life?
According to the aspie quiz I'm just a socially inept loser and not mentally disordered..
>94% probability of being typical (neurotypical)

nice cock, awesome balls

I think the autism-spectrum-quotient focuses heavily on social retards and does not consider the other sympoms of autism that much. The other tests seem better imho.

> Does it even matter if you are an autist when you don't suffer from it and can live a normal life?
Well, I guess you could enjoy some social benefits. But you might also encounter some problems and discrimination, too.
> According to the aspie quiz I'm just a socially inept loser and not mentally disordered..
Yeah, same for me it seems. No social benefits today.
>>316222
You knew the answer before even starting the quiz so that's not that interesting in your case...

>>316257
i didnt know anything m8, not my duty to collect mental disorders like pokemons lol

Wow. Uberchad detected.

His political and social views are chud tier

>>316359
Show your results. I doubt that you are worthy enough to talk bad about him.

i won the iron cross shaped thing lol

>>316390
interesting. What probability of being neurotypical did it say for this?

>>316508
it said im only 50% neurodivergent, which means other 50% is neurotypical
but ive been working on mental health to get better as a person, so it's a little win things are not that bad as expected ┐(‘~`;)┌

Apparently noone is autist here (otherwise more would be orange) just mostly shut-ins who lack practice.
