It was a special time.

Back then YouTube wasn’t as commercialized as it is today. Nobody had sponsors in their videos. People made YouTube videos because it was a hobby for them. That’s what I miss the most, now YouTube is just one big ad.

There are still lots of youtubers that don't put any ads into their videos.

I doubt a lot of people make youtube for the money. The probability to get rich doing youtube is extremely low and you have to be an extreme workaholic do even make a living out of it.
