Also don't forget to make every -ize into -ise.
 
I used to use british spelling too for the very same reason but eventually I stopped giving a fuck and now I butcher the english language because it deserves to get butchered.

We learn Bri'ish English in school. Since then the media I consume, written or other chiefly isn't Bri'ish. So now I write whatever I manage. I always type "learnt' - an American called it ebonics, kek.
