Re-heat it thoroughly on a pan and then the chances of it being fine will be increased.

1. has the can started to deform, the top might pop up a bit if bacteria/fungi started to digest your slop and form gas

2. when you open it listen for the hiss

3. re-heat it well how colleague above suggested, perhaps let it "boil" for a couple of minutes

If you have an x-ray machine try treat it with radiation. It should kill the bacteria.

Unopened cans should last easily many months if not years beyond the expiry date.
