I don't get why Dune is so popular. Its just monarchy Drama.

It's pure kino. Already watched it two times in cinema. Next week a third time in IMAX. Normally I'm not interested in mainstream movies, but this one might be the perfect blockbuster. If I had to describe it in one word, I'd say epic.

I haven't watched the second part yet but judging from the first, it's rather streamlined in terms of both plot and setting compared to the book, give it a try.

 

As a kid I liked it mostly because of the Arabic stuff and the exobiology, but used to find the politics somewhat boring.
