Is it unethical to use burner email addresses to keep getting sign up bonuses like free/cheap food from restaurant apps?
PolandBernd2024-02-16 20:52:29 · 2yNo. 301171reply
is it something you do and you're asking because you feel bad about it?
NetherlandsBernd2024-02-16 21:02:57 · 2yNo. 301174reply
I think it's unethical to create bonuses and discounts for first registration/app usage etc. Which makes using burner emails to counter that a good thing.

If the restaurant app is some startup that tries to take over the market by burning investor capital its totally fine. That's basically just the gamble money from rich dudes.

I've been doing it for years whenever i find a good one to exploit, but i told someone about how i've been doing it recently to get $1 meals from taco bell and they said it's a shitty thing to do.

It's usually the official app created by the restaurant that i do this with.

You do you, and ignore that person that said it was a shitty thing to do. It saves money and that's what I do it for, plus who doesn't like getting a good deal?
RussiaBernd2024-02-16 23:23:06 · 2yNo. 301198reply
I fail to understand your problme. You are taking the money out of the exploiter's pocket, the workers will never suffer from your actions. Why worry?

Lul it is based, if anything.
Fuck companies, help people.

Grocery stores also charge you extra because some people steal, so if you don't steal you make extra losses.
Whenever I am at a grocery store that I will never visit again, I take something expensive home with me because the way they catch shop lifters is that you do it over and over at the same market and then and only then they will notice.

But it sounds gluttonous. Gluttony is a sin.

The only thing I can't follow is how do disposable emails help with this noble Robin-Hoodian quest? Isn't SMS verification that pretty much seals it unless you have ton of disposable sims required 9 out of 10 cases? It sure is mandatory here with these things.
United StatesBernd2024-02-17 19:46:33 · 2yNo. 301247reply
If they require phone number verification then I don't bother, but many only require an email. Also sometimes you have to clear the app's cache before making a new account to get the bonus again

When you steal from supermarkets it won't be paid by the owner of the supermarket chain of course. Instead he will just raise the prices for everybody. That means that your compulsive stealing habbits are paid by the honest customers. Don't lie to yourself from whom you are stealing from here.

>good people pay x % extra because instead of bad people

Yes, and instead of making the stores more secure, or finding another solution, they just continue to let the "good" people solve their problems. They even introduced self checkouts in pretty much every supermarket chain now, to save more money.

I just don't care what is good or bad, I just don't like being ripped off.
So every now and then whenever there is a nice chance I will take something to get my x % back that were taken from me for compensation.

I know how to trick the self checkout machines at Kroger (2nd largest grocery chain in USA after Walmart) into giving you your first item free. I've done it on purpose once or twice when I was really broke a few years ago, but it's so easy that I occasionally do it on accident
GermanyBernd2024-02-19 03:59:49 · 2yNo. 301369reply
lmao how do you do it?

At the market near my home that I go to the most, it is just a refugee that can't even speak German I tried talking to him watching the self checkout. He is on his phone all the time so he'd never notice anything, but I don't shit where I live.
United StatesBernd2024-02-19 04:13:35 · 2yNo. 301372reply
It's stupidly easy. If you place the paper bag in the bagging area, there's a prompt that asks you if you placed a bag in the bagging area. If you place the bag then very quickly scan the first item within a second or too, it still looks like you scanned it (makes the beeping noise) but the machine is so preoccupied with asking if you put a bag down so it can zero out the scale that it just completely ignores that first item, lmao.

If the self checkout person notices (they won't because they're too preoccupied with checking IDs for alcohol purchases) the you can just play it off like you were in a rush and didn't notice

No, sign up bonuses themselves are unethical, as are all forms of price descrimination
