I didn't grow up with bath sponges so I never used them. Also I don't see why you should actively try to get rid of dead skin cells. Won't the just fall off eventually anyway?
Upon taking shower for the first time this year, I came to a realization: the shower sponge is a meme. It's useless and you don't need it, the corporations have sold you another gimmick item you don't really need in your life.
My explanation:
the shower sponge is used for getting rid of dead skin cells and therefore making you clean, BUT. . . .
THE BATH TOWEL PROVIDES THE EXACT SAME RESULTS!!!
It's also a multi-task object, as it is able to both remove dead skin cells AND absorb post-bath moisture.

To stay clean obviously, to stimulate cell regeneration through microinjury caused by the sponge if you are a fool or the bath towel if you are a smart who moves this planet Atlas like me.
Sure it will fall of on its own eventually but you might as well cease to ever clean your room because 1000 years from now the nature is guaranteed to reclaim the entire building.
