The newest game I ever played and enjoyed was Fallout 4 or Divinity OS2. In late 2010s I bought a ps4 and a bunch of games but did dropped most of them.
 
I know in post-gamergate, late-stage capitalism video game industry has had controversy for a long time, but are there any modern classics worth playing?
 
When I was a kid, I could just go to the store used-games section and pick games that looked cool or said GOTY and played and enjoyed. Morrowind, Oblivion, Dragon Age:Origins, Fable TLC, Mass Effect, Halo, Fallout 3 etc. It was no problem finding a game worth playing.
 
But now it's 2023, Fallout 4 is almost 10 years old and TES;6 is nowhere in sight.
 
The games people are hyping recently, Elden Ring, Baldurs Gate, Starfield, I just can't be bothered.

The new Resident Evils (Village, Biohazard) are bretty good. Didn't like Elden Ring but Sekiro and Dark Souls are really nice.
Hollow Knight, Blasphemous, Hades, Prey, Doom Eternal, nier automata. I doubt that games have gotten worse and there was always shit. You just have to look out for the good titles and take your time to enjoy them.
 
Fallout 3 and 4 was already dumbed down shit for the mass market. The only good thing about Oblivion were a couple of quest lines but the majority wasn't really good.

as far as combat, i liked dead cells more. i mostly just hopped over common enemies in blasphemous since it got boring to fight them
as far as art and setting, yeah its amazing

I agree. I played through it about 7 times. I also liked all the DLCs.
Blasphemous 2 came out last week and it is the first game since over a decade that I bought right after release it is a little worse than the first one but I haven't completed it yet
 
Even after playing the game several times I still had fun trying to parry everybody. Dead cells just got too hard for me after the third boss cell.
