Started playing ans week ago and I'm completely blown away by it. Best first person RPG I've ever played. Better than Morrowind.

It is almost perfect.

Yes it's certainly decent despite being Early Access, the gunplay is very satisfying and the leveling up and unlocking weapons thing is a smart design choice to keep you hooked, looking forward to the evolution of this game.

 

I always wondered about this gayme, it looks good but what about combat and gameplay? Is it just a purely story-driven interactive movie type of thing? I never enjoyed clicking through dialogue too much

I have 2.5k hours played in CS:GO and I played CS since 1.0 pretty much, I can't stand it anymore. I get back to it every few months and have fun for 2-3 games and then I hate it again. It's just over for me, and when I play other FPS games I realize how superior the aiming and gunplay is, I always hated the recoil patterns and netplay in CS:GO.

Really had much more fun in Tarkov (but it's stressful), Rainbow Six Siege, BattleBit and others when I feel like shooting shit

Oh yeah you would love Deep Rock Galactic btw. Basically a modernized version of L4D with dwarves and alien bugs, best coop game I can think of. Look out for it when it's on sale, used to be 10 eurobucks here

I only play Hearts of Iron IV. If you are interested in history and especially WW2 as well as grand strategy, this game is for you.

It has everything and tries to be as realistic as possible with it! Combat is pretty elaborate where you have to move the mouse in the direction you want to parry or to attack. You can also learn combos and stuff. At the beginning where you don't have many skills a fight with a single person will take several minutes because you have to slowly grind him down.

Main quest is heavy on travelling around and talking to people. Don't expect to do much fighting in the first 10 or so hours. At the beginning you are just a peasant and a soldier will fuck you up. But you do get into a couple fist fights.

Also all the standard things a good immersive open world RPG should have. You have to eat regularly, find a place to sleep regularly. You also have to go to the bathhouse everyday or find a trough to clean and wash your clothes if you don't want to get bad interactions with NPCs due to your dirty clothes.

There is an alchemy system where you have to prepare, mix, and boild the correct ingredients for specific amounts of time according to the recipe of the potion.

It's like autists made that game. But the fun loving ones. Not the ones that want you to look at graphs all the time.

what annoys you the most about this game?

You can't save everywhere. You either save by going to sleep in an inn or something or you have to consume a pretty expensive item. There have been several times where I was ambushed and killed on my way to an inn and I lost the last half hour or so of playing.

While this might be annoying when you experience it this also heightens the suspension when you are in such fight, forces you to stay at your choices in dialog, and prevents you from abusing quicksave so all in all this is a really good mechanic.

 

There was some DLC-content where you play as a girl and the game kept crashing at random parts after ~10 minutes and then you had to restart it and replay from the start. I did this three times and then just loaded an earlier save and didn't play the DLC anymore. This was the only truly annoying experience I had so far.

I play Baldur's Gate EE for a while now. For a long while now, since I spend little time with it. I'm at Cloakwood Mines. I'm also cheating with the console because I played BG 1 and 2 before a couple of times (ToB only once) and can't be arsed to do stuff the proper way. I also try to pick up NPCs that rarely or never used before, but some just don't worth it. I dunno if I'll continue with BG2 EE, for I'm not sure if I'll finish this.

All sorts of indie games. Seems like nowadays big studious are creatively and morally bankrupt.

Steam really is good for small developers considering how easy it is to release a game there and get some attention, however I recently read that they do take a 30% cut which sounds a little bit high. R8 my favorites library, many good indie games among them

Man, when will someone finally make a decent audio game.

I want something where I can just lay back and listen to some kind of interactive story that isn't too boring, but also not too engaging and that is a bit more then just a Yes/No adventure.

It's always VIDEO games, but there would be some many cool things you could do just with audio.

It was only my (current) favorites, however I actually do not have that many games considering how old my account is and stuff

I just bought this piece of shit game for a few bucks and it's a fucking gay ass game because I keep getting stuck on the FUCKING doors all of the time I had to delete my save game and start from another point because I got stuck on a door for the second time. I also downloaded the unofficial patch and now the NPCs are all acting weird and I'm left wondering if I made a mistake by doing that or not, but I couldn't read the god damn map because it was so low quality before installing the unofficial patch.

Overall currently I've played 2 hours and I've heard lots of good things about this game but I'm yet to get too much into it because of these retarded doors that piss me off.

One of these classic praised games that I have actually never ever. Try picrel if you want a real vampire game (it doesn't have any vampires ingame though)

 

Never had any problem with doors, though i installed beforehand all recomended patches.

Playing rome 2 total war with the divide et impera mod. Very difficult but fun

I've only played Chivalry 2, Dota 2 (turbo only), Squad and Kingdom Come in last few years.

I got this game and enjoyed it more than I thought I would but sadly even with the FOV maxed out it gives me motion sickness so I don't think I'll continue playing

 

not being able to pause during cut scenes is probably the most annoying thing about it

 

but Baldur's Gate 3 finally came out so maybe I'll look into that

sad that you cannot enjoy it through. Where in the story are you now? Combat only really gets going after you've learned to parry from Bernard.

I doubt that any of the cut scenes are more than 2 minutes. Why do you feel the need to pause that?

 

I still haven't played BG2 because I still haven't finished BG1 yet. I started BG1 multiple times over the decades but every time that I come to the town Baldurs Gate for the first time I get so bored by the vastness of it and the long walking distances that I just stop playing it. It wouldn't feel right to play BG2 without playing the first one first.

there are probably mods to increase FOV even further and disable head bobbing, I'll look into it even though I think it should absolutely be the industry standard to already include such options in video games

 

I've arrived at Talmberg, so it's just the beginning of the game; first thing I did was get my ass kicked by a drunkard so that was fun then I came back, managed to beat him up and stole all of his chickens; the fact you can't save scum really does make it better, which is kind of surprising since that's how I usually play

 

sure, it's only two minutes but I just don't see why not include the option to hit pause whenever - what if my phone rings or someone knocks on my door? game is just a toy and it doesn't take precedence over real life

 

 

haven't played any of the BG games, I've attempted to play BG1 once but I think I'm too spoiled by modern games because it felt clunky and frustrating (same happened with KOTOR which I wanted to play so badly); so I'm going to start with BG3 - I did the same with Divinity: Original Sin 2 (probably missed some lore or throwbacks but I don't really mind)
