tommorow i starting my 1200km trip thru slavlands by car. its not much but im still worried, my 11 years old golf is not kind of car for such distances
RussiaBernd2023-07-16 16:40:21 · 3yNo. 279096reply
why not just take train?

slavland is kinda repetative if you not picking the stops deliberatelly pre-planned, but its just my opinion. I mean i can only see so many same railroad junctions, transformator booths, garrages, soviet type administrative buildings, wooden houses and and village toilets, before my attention fades and i start feeling like NPC in a game with the same assets

Are you the semi Oligarch Bernd with Golf 6? Does the air conditioner in your golf work?
In my 18 years old Golf, it doesn't work, and I don't know why.
RussiaBernd2023-07-16 18:55:01 · 3yNo. 279113reply
no im plebian even by russian standarts, my rotten golf6 looks pathetic on carcentric streets of this country where people prefere to live in a hut but to have good car. A/c works perfectly but i prefere to drive with open windows and pretending i have a car with no top.
>In my 18 years old Golf, it doesn't work, and I don't know why.
airfilter maybe? just try to take it out and hit against something

when i skate i use a sturdy umbrella to protect against the sun and catch winds that then drag me. basically sailing on land for poor people.

tree tops visualize wind and also you can hear the wind when you pay attention to it. also i check the weather app for windy days though it often lies. today would have been a windy day but the app did not say so.

i did it, 1200+1200 km. Everything went great except i accidentally entered Moscow at midnight: I wanted to go around moscow by mkad but missed my turn, then i was trying to turn back but there were no turns to left at all. So i rode all along warsaw highway untill i reached inner circle and there i lost completly, tried to find new way out untill i turned wrong way two more times and found myself on warsaw highway again but driving out of that damned city. MKAD was also scary as fuck, despite the time (past midnight) it was filled with cars driving 90-120 kmh, shit is scary as fuck.
>why dont you use navigation app?
because im smarter than everyone else obviously
aside from this story everything went smoothly. Havent paid a kopeika to road jews and drove all the way by free (90(+20)kmh speed limit) roads.

the car is 11 years old, its good but body rots as if it was made of wood, i tired of constantly cleaning and painting rusted spots

nod really, maybe something would be interesting for a foreigner but i was traveling by train my whole life (was visiting my grandparents like every summer) and all these places are actually known to me, of course car ride is completely different expirience

I recently walked my city for the first time, the furthest I believe I’d ever walked before. A sort of accurate comparison may be standing by a highway sign for the first time, and its immensity standing there hits you as unusual. My city is known for being the most dangerous in the country, and I was cautious but I ended up without incident. I stuck to the large streets and traveled via familiarity with landmarks I recognized. I saw train yards, lots of graffiti, ghettos and dilapidated no man zones. I stopped at a large intersection and got some chicken strips from a fast food place that happened to be there. I ate one and my hunger was dated so I set the package next to who I assumed was a homeless person and or a drug addict, passed out on a section of pavement adorned with large gravel rocks. Later on I passed another homeless passed out and he had his pants down and his butt was showing which was kind of funny but I stood there staring at him to ensure he was breathing before allowing myself to continue on without calling an ambulance for him. I had to stop several times for rest and admired the city being able to let the environment sink in instead of the cursory, uninterested glance that I tend to give while driving around. By the time I got home it had been four hours since I started walking back. I could have called a cab, but I’m glad I walked, it was interesting :p serious discussion post
